Who want's new rear shocks to start the new year? One more sign up and the second run on bolt-on rear shock hoops will go live.

hey @desertjunkie760 do you think @Downsouth Motorsports will know what shims to use when rebuilding my King 2.5 Resi coilovers - I am going to ask for them to be rebuilt/revalved for adding dual shocks. I am going to be sending my stuff out to them around the beginning of March. Or.. could you do it?

I just was talking to my fiancee about this tonight. She said lets keep our finances separate. So she doesnt need to be convinced when I need to drop $1500 on more shocks, when I already have them .

    https://www.offroadwarehouse.com/pr...for-stock-width-total-chaos-equipped-vehicles

But she said she might need convincing when I ask her to borrow $ for my expensive hobbies :rofl:o_O.

    OPTION #4 GO! :bananadead:

Anybody got a good recommendation for preload and or thread count showing or measurement from threaded body to coil stop ring for fox 2.5 extendeds when using 14" 700lb King coils?

2010 ARB front, w8000 winch, Sliders, full steel reinforced skids, plate rear with swingouts.

    Truck weighs 5200lbs.

Thanks. Searched and searched but haven't found a good answer yet other than every truck is different adjust them on the truck, like yeah I get that but a good starting point would be nice.

+2 threads or 3/16th inch on the driver side for the lean yeah?

What kind of rear set up you guys running?

    anyone running bypasses? triples? Smoothies?

I got fox 2.5 DSC up front with a secondary bypas.

for the rear I got a 12” triple bypass but may have trouble clearing the shock body and bypass tubes at compression.

Did you need to revalve to add your bypasses up front?

I have King 2.0 12" smoothies in the rear

I did, but did not have to really..my shock guy locally took the coilovers apart and the valving was pretty soft.

which tube layout did you get for the rear? You will need what king calls "layout 2" in order to clear the frame and rear tires. That's the layout with the tubes on the front and the resi on the back.

I'm running a 14" smooth body shock on custom hangers for the rear, TC makes a weld on shock hoop that I think works with bypass setups.

Unfortunately everyone is right. Every truck is going to be different as well as how you want things to function. If you are more of a go fast person, you want about 60% of the shock shaft showing at ride height, rock crawling closer to 40%. Same goes for the rear. As for a starting point, you are on the heavier side so I’d say 8-10 turns and yes, about 2 more on the driver side to compensate for lean

I think Archive relocate allows for bypasses in the rear too

Downsouth should have a good idea of what valving to put into them for that setup. That is one of the aspects of their business. I have heard mixed reviews about their valving choices but you have to understand that it can be difficult to put valving into a vehicle based off the end user and not knowing many of the other variables involved.

I have the ability to do so but I prefer to not get involved in projects that require shipping shocks to and from. Too much liability and headache. Feel free to DM me if you have any additional questions though!

I've got 2.5x12" Fox with DSCs in the rear on a custom relocation.

    This ^

That it does. I would recommend the Archive kit before most others. The TC kit is designed for a 10" stroke bypass and the associated zoning. You won't do yourself much justice trying to fit a bigger bypass into that kit. I've personally fit a 2.5x12" smooth body in using a TC relocation kit but there's no zoning to be worried about.

Looks like you've already tried this thread. How much preload do you currently have in your 600# springs? Actual preload, not the measurement from threaded body to coil stop ring.

    Pretty much. :hattip:

Not exactly sure how to tell you how much preload I have beyond a measurement?

Right now the right control arm has only a slight down angle and the left is effectively flat, no loft at all really the truck has a quite noticeable taco lean.

Beyond that I can tell you that I called Fox and asked what the max allowable was for the 12" 600lbs stock and they said 1 3/4" from the top of the threaded body (below the black cap) to the top of the single ring and so I put 1 11/16" on it and it's sagging hard. Hence the 700lbs coming.

Best I have found from an FJ forum 3-4 threads passenger and 4-5 drivers for 700lbs and a heavy front end.

I'm not so sure about that. The Camburg uppers have 1.25" uniballs with misalignment spacers that permit quite a bit of travel (using the misalignment spacers they come with). I'm going to install Camburg lower control arms soon as well , so I will report total wheel travel with upper and lower uniballs + Icon extended 2.5 shocks. I think the Icon shocks will be the limit on full down travel (9" or so).

As far as swaping a uniball out, it's a snap ring and press out. Sometimes you get lucky and the cup is not super tight. It's not that hard.

The camburg arm is good, I've used thiers and the dirt king. The JBA ball joint has more travel than either uniball, but it's somewhat irrelevant because the UCA crashes into the spring around the same time the uniball limits out. The ball joint has the extra travel so it's not binding, which is less of an issue for the uniball than a ball joint.
