Name this sound?

This sound is coming from my 1997 tacoma, at 19sec i push the clutch in just a little and the sound is gone once i let the clutch back out you hear it again.

What gives?

 

I cant quite hear what you're talking about... I hear a slight ticking/squeaking sound near the end of the clip... is that what you mean? Could be one of your clutch bearings wearing a little... Doesnt sound that bad though.

 

Yes it is at the very end of the clip the squeaking goes away when i push the clutch in my clutch works fine though.

The clutch pedal has it's moments where it sounds like a old bed spring when i push it in and out this comes and goes for some strange reason but i am more worried about the motor sound than anything.

 

sounds like you may have a loose/worn or getting ready to fail throw out bearing &/or fingers on pressure plate starting to wear...

Now heres the next sound clip. This is me pushing the clutch in and out. It sounds like a old spring it does not do this all the time someday's its competly quit. I know there is a plastic type bushing there that can cause this but if that where the case it would not comes and go would it?

I had it at my local dealer ship a few months ago and of course it didn't do the sound at the time and they said there was nothing wrong with it.

Sounds like it could definitely be the clutch pedal bushing in the second clip. Where is the recording device being placed in relation to the truck? Inside, outside, engine bay?

 

Inside the truck right under the steering wheel. If it where a bushing why does it come and go?

 

I have the same issue with mine. I believe it is the T/O going out. It is sporatic but getting more and more constant as time goes on. Ill probably just swap it and a new clutch out next spring sometime.

 

I'm going to take it to get it fixed this week. I had it there a few months ago and of course it did not do it for them. It comes and goes.

Dumb question if they replace the clutch does the transmission Oil get changed with it?

ok must really be a dumb question.

 

Generally you don't need to change tranny lube in manual trans, but surely check it for correct level & take note of color of fluid. But if you can afford it go ahead & change it with OEM recommendations....
