Conductive tape to repair a bad trace sounds like a bad idea. It may be shorting now in 2wd.

that conductive tape trace rebuild, followed by the statement of not having skills to check voltage sets off some alarm bells..

how did you determine the trace was in fact broken and needed rebuilt with conductive tape?

if the trace was just corroded a good cleaning should have sufficed, if the trace was broken, a good cleaning followed by removal of the conformal coating to restore good contact would be needed. Not sure I would trust conductive tape for a long term solution in this regard. if there is still corrosion present the shorting Penberg mention "may" be taking effect.

do you have any good clear close up photos of the area before and after repair prefered.

for reference, here is a switch I fixed a blown trace on. the green coating is the conformal coating that would need to be removed from the trace(s) being repair

for this repair a small jumper wire was soldered from one pad to the next and routed to somewhat follow the original path

    Always need mods! :)
Sorry, I may not have been clear - I replaced the ADD, did not delete it. :)

No sir - just the plastic cap. But I think it may have rotated slightly when the cap bolts were removed...?

I mainly wanted to try the tape to verify the trace was the issue - didn't expect it would be a long term fix.

Simply checking voltage or resistance I can do - but the steps looked a lot more complicated than just checking either across a couple of pins. :) I mainly wanted to try the tape to verify the trace was the issue - didn't expect it would be a long term fix. I absolutely agree that it wouldn't work long term (but was pretty disappointed that it didn't "prove" the trace was the issue). :) Attached is a pic of the before (didn't take one after):

    Thanks all. :)

Yep, that is bad and needs to be replaced. I'd almost guarantee it will fix your issue.

If it rotated, it may be out of sync. Try correcting that to see if it will at least eliminate your new issue.

@CedarPark should ride shotgun with me if my wife doesn't grace me with her presence. Heart of Texas Off Road is having an event at Hidden Falls this weekend. I will be out for a day trip on Saturday. Anyone interested?

Best take Dylan. Wouldn’t want a Rocky Marriage especially with no Crawl control. :ballchain:
