Who would y’all recommend looking at a PCV valve? Toyota says mine has failed and want roughly 3600$ to replace and reseal

I wonder if they mean the timing cover....those are prone to leaking. Mine has had a weep since I checked it at 70k but Toyota decided they didn't want to warranty it and the dealership gave me the runaround saying how it wasn't leaking at my last 60k oil change as the warranty was expiring.

Youngest one I’ve personally had was 27. Half my unit is full from mid 20-9x. ER is holding bc we have no open beds.

Right...I don't believe it. It's a sensitive subject in our house and she gets all pissy when I start asking the difficult questions like this.

:gossip: mine doesn't work in those ICU's, so not sure how she can even confirm it...hers is a "clean" ICU.

Ok so 27, were they a healthy weight? Not "normal for an American", but truly a healthy weight......

Wow. On the first gen you simply remove a rubber hose, pull the PCV out of the valve cover (held only with a rubber grommet) replace the PCV, pop the hose back on and you’re done. Two minute job.

Sucks that it became a $3600 job less than 20 years later.

Edit: Nevermind, I see below that it was not the PCV.

if it’s not pissing out oil, wouldn’t worry about it. It’s probably been leaking for some time they just now spotted it...

The service person you face is generally not automotive knowledgeable.. and makes silly mistakes like that. They're a people (sales) person for the most part

the timing cover reseal on the 3rd gens (or the newer V8’s) is not an easy job, like at all.

$3600 buys you all the tools and manuals and with the left over gets you half way to air-conditioning your garage....

Airconditioning the garage is pretty inexpensive. I got my Minisplit for one stimulus check
