You passed a speed limit sign of 70 while indicating 80mph on your speedometer in your video.

Using the stock size OR tire of 265/70/16 and your new size 285/75/17 into the tire size calculator shows a diameter increase of just over 10% so speedometer difference of will also be approximately 10% due to manufacturing variances.

Math and your own video shows you to be doing approximately 88 mph in a 70mph zone.

I have a gps Speedo in the truck that shows me, it’s only 3 faster like I said multiple times, we can agree to disagree. I left it at the pace for the purpose of the video so I can show exactly what it’s doing

That's what people are trying to tell you on this thread, your GPS Speedo is wrong. Math isn't wrong. 2+2 = 4. You were actually going 88.43 mph on this video.

You think the speedometer reading in the truck center console is determined by GPS? If that's the case you're wrong.

no lol I have an aftermarket gps Speedo that I have used for my boat, my other vehicles and my airplane that has been spot on in everything I put it in, and funny thing is on my drive just a little bit ago I passed a cop radar sign that shows your speed, while cruising 80 on cruise control my gps Speedo shows 83 and the radar sign showed me doing 83 lol so yes I’m going to trust my gps Speedo

Funny you don't show that GPS readout in the video.

Fuck it then, there are others here to help you. I'm done here.

How accurate is the factory speedo? Mine is 10% fast. If that's the case, then OPs gps could be correct.

Regardless of how fast he was going, his truck still shifts like crap. No vehicles should tack out like that unless they’re racing, foot to the floor.

Or his tire size is not what he thinks it is....

According to the tire size calculator a 285/70/17 tire he would be doing 83 with the speedo showing 80.

It would still struggle to stay into the OD gears doing 80 with cruise control on, probably easier to go into 5th using the gas pedal but he likely won't see 6th with CC without a re-gear.... I dont see 6th at 80 and I run 285/70/17 so I use S5 anytime I'm over 70.

Until he starts providing accurate information he's never going to get an accurate diagnosis.

That says 285/70R17 so if you know how to read your fingers dont know how to transcribe what you mean.

Your first post says 285/75/17 tires which is a 34 inch tire.... which you just edited to read 285/70/17.

Sorry bud.... in 4 days you've completely blown your credibility with me.

truck has been fixed! Truck is no longer holding 4th at 5300 rpms anymore, as y’all have seen before the truck used to have a huge bed box camping setup installed wich was not on truck when I bought it because someone bought the camper prior to me purchasing truck, THE TRANSMISSION IS SMART AND ADAPTIVE TO WEIGHT, TIRE SIZE AND DRIVING STYLE, SO I HAD THE TRANSMISSION ADAPTIVES IN THE COMPUTER RESET SO THAT IT CAN LEARN MY DRIVING STYLE AND GET ADJUSTED TO NOT HAVING THE WEIGHT IT DID BEFORE, NOW WITH CRUISE SET AT 80 and for the (“speed nazis” 83mph) TRUCK IS BOW GOING INTO OVER DRIVE GEARS JUST FINE AND CRUSING AT 3000 rpms

Your right I had fat fingers and accidentally typed the wrong size and I apologize for that but regardless the issue at hand had nothing to do with speed or the 0.8 inch of tire height

    Now you're holding fourth gear!

Still an improvement though. As long as you're happy.

Put it in S4. Bet you see zero difference in rpms at speed. Or you know, do basic math.

Either way I am seeing very steady improvements every drive now, 3000rpms rather then 5300rpms is okay with me

    You are in 4th gear. 5th and 6th won't allow 3000 rpms.

I just got back from my 90 mile (one way) trip to Denver as I posted I would. The highway between here and Denver has level spots and some significant grades. I used CC most of the time and set to ~80’ish (GPS speed not speedo) so a little slower than you..... What I found was on the level part I sat at about 3200 RPM’s. On the steep up hill grade (I think about 5-7%) it did downshift and held the gear appropriately at about 5000 RPM’s until the crest and then upshifted and went back down to around 3000 RPM again. My torque converter temp peaked at 217 degrees by the end of the roughly 3 minuted climb up the hill. I never even got close to 5000 RPM’s on level or near level highway.
