Speaking of unapologetic, I’d have to say the same about she, (who shall not be named) and her side job company.

Oh yeah. Defacing natural wonders and such peaks pretty high on my list though, esp when done for social media / influencer BS.

I certainly know what the self-assessed grade would be at KTJO HQ.

I thought you were ref to inventory or delivery screw-ups at TB. The track record of accepting any responsibility at the Oregon place is not that great.

    Not familiar with TB history.

I received mine yesterday and went straight into the install. I didn't use the clip nut and opted instead of an M6 riv-nut, as I think that's a stronger option. If I assemble it loose, with nothing actually seated in place, I can get the top bolt in. There is nothing I can do to get the lower bolt even started. The angle is way off. I can't even start the bolt with the handle not in place. The riv-nut sits flush against the sheetmetal, just like the clip nut would have, so I don't see why it should be different.

I also note that the edge of the pillar isn't completely straight. It bows in in one section and I can see the edge of the airbag between the pillar and seal (visible in my photo next to the bottom of the handle).

The part seems well made enough, there just seems to be a problem with the fit. With the top bolt in place, it feels quite solid, but it seems sketchy to leave half the fasteners out.

Same as mine before I bent the upper clip. I had no issues with the lower clip, but there is something off on the design. No one ever posts issues when doing all the tweeter upgrades and such. So, the OE parts took into account the proper interfaces. This kit was based on some far end of the spectrum and most likely not verified across several other Tacos, if it was reverse engineered.

Yeah, bending the clip(s) sucks and leaves a bad feeling behind.

Also with that gap, you'll also probably notice a tapering gap where the trim meets that headliner in sunlight. It is subtle, but was annoying. Not seen when I used the flash for the pic.

all done, went ok more or less, about 15 minutes and it's in nice and solid.
    20210105_120447.jpg

anyone have a suggestion for the upper flap not fitting well. any suggested solutions aside from a drop of adhesive?

    20210105_120016.jpg 20210105_115952.jpg 20210105_120042.jpg

agree with @tonered that it's not OEM quality. i don't mind so much but I'm not used to having that deficiency right in my face every day.

I wonder if a little heat would make it more pliable and maybe mold to the handle better...

Exactly, You can heat it up and bend it to shape to fit the handle better. I pressed those tabs out, so they were more secure. I also dropped a dab of superglue on the small alignment pin, and pressed it for 10+ seconds while it set-up. Anyway, that's how I got the lip of the cap to sit flush. :notsure: GL!

question for all that have installed theirs: What did you do with the piece of foam that was on the OEM cover? Should I try to salvage it?

Be sure that you have the three pins / clips going into the right spots. One goes in the guide hole, and the two others go down the bolt hole.

Is that scratch on the pillar trim on the part out of the box?

I pulled it off, but most of the adhesive remained on the plastic. Maybe someday if I get really encouraged, I might stick it back on.

McMaster has zero thickness adhesive tape that is used for the VHB tape.

Well, color me stunned. My handle showed up today - it was originally due yesterday and nothing in the system showed between when it departed Oregon on the 28th and was delivered today. It went from In Transit to Delivered. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket.

    Ordered: Dec 22
    Shipped: Dec 28
    Arrived: Jan 5

I pulled it out of the box - A pillar looks pristine, handle itself has a few minor nicks/rubs. Miraculously, the bolts are correct and so is the M6 clip. So much for the bag of 20 I have coming on tomorrow. If anyone needs one, let me know.

So, now I'm debating if I want to install it with the included M6 clip or head out to the auto parts store and grab a self-centering one. I put the parts downstairs in our mechanical room for now - we have radiant in-floor heat and the boiler for our system and hot water keeps them temp at a pretty constant 85F. Nice place to warm up parts before putting them on.

One of the clips is bent over that's why it's not sitting flush.

i had to go look. and now it cannot be unseen.

it's a light specifical scuff mark that was probably from me handling it, but it could be like that out of the box i suppose. it's nbd over here. don't think i would notice it if the sun wasn't right on it.
