that’s really weird. I use the 72% boveda packs as well in my humidor. I am using 5 of them in my 100count humidor and it holds at about 68-69%%.

I think it's the analog hygrometer, I'm gonna order a digital one. It's all over the place, keeps going up and down with no changes by me.

Oh yeah mine is all over the board. I leave it in there because it looks good but I use a digital hygrometer for actual readings.

My lost package arrived, the bottom torn open and devoid of cigars. Humidor inside. Supposed to return it since I already got the replacement order. Sounds like UPS handed it off to USPS and it got mangled.

So I just got my humidor setup and I was wondering, should I leave them all in their individual wrappers or expose all of them to the inside of the humidor completely?

I’d personally leave them in their individual wrappers. They will still age and take on the cedarness of the humidor. It will also help keep the humidity in and it will protect them when you go to handle/rotate your stash.

 Thanks, I wasn't sure if keeping them in the wrappers was preventing them from getting proper humidity. Mine is sitting around 65 on the hygrometer with 1 humicare gel stick, a shot glass of distilled water and the gel puck that came with it.

I guess not. How do I do that? My hygrometer is attached to the box.

Pretty sure we got the same one from that special, it just pushes out from the inside.

I've been smoking cigars for close to 30 years, started with the cheapie machine made types, have been able to afford the nicer, hand made brands for the last 20 years now. I primarily stay with a few brands that I have come to really like, and occasionally try something new. Every once in a while, say maybe one in 30-40 cigars of the same brand, I have one that is rolled too tight and won't draw or stay lit worth a damn, produces almost no smoke when it usually produces a fair amount...... you will get an outlier once in a while with just about any brand.

As to the getting sick part, I might suggest a couple possibilities. As you said, being a new smoker, your body isn't used to it yet. Also, some tobaccos are indeed higher in nicotine than others, and so "hit you harder" than others. The La Bomba brand is one such cigar. Another thought I'll share. Everyone has their preferred way to hold your cigar, some leave it in an ashtray except when drawing from it, others hold it in one hand or the other. I usually hold mine in my hand as long as I'm smoking it. However, sometimes if I am reading a book or doing something else that requires both my hands, I will just keep the cigar in my mouth for extended periods (say 10+ minutes at a time). When doing this, the lit end being continually so close to your nose/mouth, you will naturally end up inhaling much more of the smoke that if your cigar is much farther away from your face when not drawing, and this is usually when I end up feeling a little queasy, or even light headed after smoking.

Currently enjoying this outside with a brew. I also tried something new in the form of punching instead of a straight cut. I'm glad I did, the draw would have been too loose with a straight cut.

I too also punch my cigars. Just seems like the less messy route.

I enjoy a straight cut, but this was my first box pressed cigar so I erred on the side of caution and it worked out.

I’ve found that a punch works best for a box press cigar vs. a straight cut.
That said, the only box press cigar I have frequented over the past few years is the Acid “deep dish” which is a darker blend & wrapper than my usual fare, the blue wrapper Acid.

Many years ago I was a big fan of the CAO “extreme annevesario” a very dark wrapped meduro blend. Another box press cigar.

I have an Acid Kuba Kuba aging in the humidor since the last time you chimed in, gonna try that next. I really enjoyed the Java, it was very good.
