I’m sure a few one offs would be pricey. I’m still debating steel or aluminum. I’m also trying to figure out if I want to cut up my existing cap or make a new one. Hate with budget gets in the way of builds.

I did mine about a month ago. Set up an eBay search by model # and got them for $100 shipped. I want to say I noticed a huge difference but I'm not sure I did

My twin is in single mode atm, one of them has failed. I am almost at 4 years of using it, so its done its job so far. 3 year warranty of course.

This one will just bolt right in and give me back twin action

I have to thank the first owner of the lx470 for pulling the trigger, let's hope they keep on buying the 570 and future, so i can possibly enjoy them in 15 years from now. :D

    well done!

Plywood shelfs are most of the time all we need, and then under the shelf you can have totes or under the bed bins like mines

Steel would be heavy. I'd say steel frame aluminum sheet covers?

Issue is the cap won’t fit on anything other then a flatbed. Believe I am wider then a full size (bed rail wise) and the height would be sky high on another truck.
For a bed rack absolutely. Mine needs a floor and what not too
that was the plan. Essentially all covered in aluminum. Just the main skeleton would be steel. Weight would be an issue, but it would be more durable. Still trying to figure it out. 1/16 steel tube versus 3/16-1/4” aluminum. Based on some of the overland camper builds I have looked at, the steel frame is the way to go since aluminum eventually cracks. Why most items are bolted together and not welded. Have lots of time to decide.

Good to note. Mine hasn’t had that much use (atleast I don’t consider there being much use). See how long it lasts.
