Without a doubt, my 2005 Jeep. It spent so much time at the dealer they should have put a brass plaque on one of the chairs in the waiting room with my name on it. Calling that car a piece of shit would be a compliment. In addition, Jeep's corporate attitude can simply be stated as "screw the customer". Getting warranty work approval (while under warranty) was an ordeal similar to the 12 labors of Hercules. In short, I would not buy another Jeep/Chrysler product at gun point

My dad's 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7L was by far the most unreliable piece of garbage we ever owned. Every car ive owned has either been reliable or been broken by my own hand and cant really fault the car. My Mazdaspeed Protege went through 3 transmissions but I was running twice the factory power level and launching it at 5500rpms at the drag strip.

My friend had a Land Rover Defender 130 TD5, one day its electrical system shorted and it burned out completely

The ghost of Lucas seemed to follow it

    My 2011 Tacoma.

Near constant little issues. Blower motors, door lock actuators, clock spring, lower ball joints, steering rack, leaf springs (4 sets), brake calipers, brake pedal switch, idler pulleys, cv axle, weepy valve covers...

ALL with METICULOUS maintenance and upkeep in a mild climate no-salt state.

Returning to the dealer 3+ times to fix a problem on a new vehicle qualifies for lemon law I believe. You might be able to take advantage of that to either get into a different Tacoma or another vehicle entirely. Good luck.

I feel you. My 2005 Ram 1500 work truck had the charcoal canister literally fall off the truck. They somehow called it road damage, even though the canister is on top of the fuel tank. A rock would have to go through the tank to knock it loose. Tried to fight corporate on it until the dealer finally bought the truck back over the other emissions related problems to get rid of us.

All this thread makes me realize is that I've had some really bad experiences, even with Toyota lol.

Fun to drive, pulls like a sonofabitch but can’t drive this sucker without breaking something. Considering putting it up for adoption

Nothing my family or I have owned has ever been that unreliable, mostly Toyota trucks and Honda cars/SUV’s, even my old VW Passat was bulletproof, but my buddy has a VW Touareg that has broken in some amazing ways in the 8ish months he’s owned it.

Buddy of mine had been a die hard Datsun/Nissan fanatic since we were young. Always chided me for being a Toyota fan. His 240Z rotted to pieces. As did his 260Z. I was driving with him on the highway in his 280ZX when I witnessed the front passenger fender rise up like a wing. It rotted in the driveway and was hauled off on a flatbed (I kept the wheels for my MG). His 300ZX burst into flames on the way to work one day and burned to the ground. He now drives Toyotas. lol

    Cheers

So... he was upset because his cars rotted out. Then he goes and buys a Toyota? The “my frame rusts if salt even Glances at it” Toyota’s?

I’ve had a lot of junkers, but my 2019 SR is a total POS. At only 4000 miles, the shift knob was loose, had to slide the boot down and screw the knob tight, then slide the boot back up. That’s 15 seconds of my life I will NEVER get back.

Other than that I love it.

1977 Pontiac Sunbird, "Iron Duke" 4 cyl. Small shit was always breaking. To be fair, it was my college car, so it endured a fair amount of abuse. I learned volumes about working on cars and fixing broke stuff thanks to this car. It got me up and down the CA I5 super-slab many times between school in So-Cal and home in Nor-Cal without leaving me stranded. At about 50K the rear main seal was going. Made a couple of trips with an aluminum roasting pan fastened under the engine with bailing wire. I just stopped every ~hundred miles to put the leaked oil back into the engine. Ironically, by 77K miles it was toast. Great memories of that car.
