$54.75 for veteran vanity plates. We do pay a seperate personal property tax though IDK how that all compares

Its $76 for regular registration in VT, and an extra $26 for the conservation plates.

Changed my cabin air filter today. Not exactly something to write home about or anything, but nonetheless it was nasty and needed replacing.

I've had my new to me 2011 OR DCSB for about a month now. It came with a free 1,000 mile dealer warranty. I just scratched the 1,300 mile mark yesterday and this happens:

    IMG_4469.HEIC.jpg
    Just my luck

After some research it appears that certain codes can trigger the slip indicator to turn on as well and disabling traction control (If anyone has an idea why I'd love to know)

Drove over to autozone to get it scanned, code P0420 - Catalyst system below threshold on bank 1 (passenger side on the V6). This code can mean several things ranging from a leak in the exhaust manifold to a worn out Cat Converter. I didn't notice any power loss so I am assuming the cat is still good?

That left me thinking a leak may be present or perhaps a failed O2 sensor. I found this suggestion on a youtube video to tape a shop vac on blow mode to the muffler and spray the exhaust system with soapy water looking for bubbles. My shop vac doesn't have a blow setting so the leaf blower will have to do:

    IMG_4464.HEIC.jpg

After spraying the exhaust system from the manifold to the end of the last O2 sensor I found zero bubble spots, meaning my problem is likely not an exhaust leak.

The next thing is to swap the O2 sensors, I am sure there is a way to test these guys to see if they are the culprit but I couldn't find a good solution online. After some research I found that most guys have problems with the last O2 sensor as opposed to the one right off the manifold.

    IMG_4466.HEIC.jpg

    IMG_4467.HEIC.jpg

I purchased a new far O2 sensor from autozone and installed after using some penetrating WD40 to get the dang thing off, reset the code and took it for a drive, so far no light, hopping I fixed the problem... fingers crossed!

Here is what you need, credit to @Crom :
    1) Title
    2) Statement of Facts
    3) Miscellaneous Certifications
    4) Fill in the following fields (see attached PDF)
    5) Something to remove your plates

So here is what I did:
    1) No appointment, could not figure how to make one since I could not choose "vehicle reclassification" as a reason (unless I missed it). Dead time at my DMV was about 10-10:30.
    2) Explained to the DMV receptionist that I would like to reclassify my truck as "permanently modified for human habitation with a camper shell." *CHANGE BODY TYPE from pick-up (PK) to permanently modified (PM).*
    3) She asked me to drive around building and follow the Vehicle Verification lane, next to the drivers test lane, and ring the bell once and wait for someone.
    4) A DMV employee [eventually] came out and it was pretty straight forward. I told her that the truck has been permanently converted for human habitation due to the "permanently" installed shell.
    5) I parked and waited in line again and a few minutes later I was in and on my way. I was asked to go pull my plates and I was handed a new set. I paid my registration and that was that.

I was probably there for 1:15...

p0420 is a code I see weekly at work man. Needs new catalytic converters. While you’re there get now 02 sensors too.

It’s only cheap if it’s a renewal. New registrations get the 6% sales tax of KBB good condition value unless you can prove you already paid it/dealer paid it. My initial registration was almost $800.

Usually bank 1 or bank 2 just points to the problematic o2 sensor. It’s going to be cheaper to do sensor before the catalytic. Not exactly the same but went through this with my Audi. Why do you assume failing cat firs, so I can learn a bit from your experience? You can even generally tell when a cats bad by dropping it and checking for rattle (when it’s realllly shot)

my truck throws this code when it is humid outside (ie in the southeast or by the coast). I’ve replaced all O2 sensors so I’m pretty sure it’s cat coverter.

I live in CO so it doesn’t throw the code unless I travel to humid areas.

So I finished part one of the sound dampening. What a freaking difference with just the back wall covered. I'm super eager now to finish the rest. I also stuck a few foam pieces in the air vent for good measure.

And yes @DG92071 a spoon came in handy lol. @AStinkyBumb a plastic trim removal tool also worked great for the crevices.

Also super stoked to finally get rid of the useless passenger seat belts. I was extremely tired of hearing them bang around everyday.

Swapped out the stock tailgate handle for one with a camera. My base model was wired for the stock camera, but since I have an aftermarket head unit, I pulled to the stock wiring and used the plastic mounts for the new harness. I still need to wire it up to the front...
