Finally decided and bought one new from a best buy the Sunday before my first class
    20210105_203257.jpg

I know its only 12Gb when I said I needed 16 but I was the jackwagon that asked the "will these tires rub" question on the solidworks subreddit and learned i can get away with less even semi professionally (you can get away with an assy made up of 1000 parts or less at 8Gb .. just don't ask it to do a simulation lol)

I paid 615 for it so im happy

You may find yourself having to turn off S mode, just a heads up. It's a pain. Also solidworks is a primadonna, I love it but it complains about the dumbest shit. I've made do with my 16gb of ram and gaming graphics cards but it throws a hissy fit for rendering and simulations without a decent workstation gfx card. But there are work arounds

Good deal. If you start to feel cramped on that display, external 1920x1080 screens are cheap these days and make life so much better. Good processor and ram tho, I think that'll do ya well.

Thanks! There was a workstation that had everything I needed and it was an open box sale so there was killer deal but I glossed over the 13.3" display detail in the online ad. I probably will get too cramped on this size eventually but it seemed so huge compared to the open box I went to look at originally

Yeah its that darn 1366x768 resolution. Things get kinda fuzzy at that size of screen with that resolution when you try to make things onscreen not-huge. Drives me nuts.

We get a call like twice a week about S mode issues here on campus. But we no longer work on personal machines.

    @Kwikvette and @CS_AR

I got half my springs today, I really like the aqua color.

Also got this crusty thing changed out and I think I picked up more than a couple ponies

I like the new dual in single out cat more than the two cheap cats.

Aqua looks good with black. Status symbol. I remember changing out the cats on one of the 4th gens and was surprised at how it performed better. But then deleting cats with a catless y-pipe like what we have on the 5VZFE always makes a difference.

Had some front cats on a VQ30 become cooked and clogged from two leaking injector o-rings causing uncontrollable flooding It would barely run if a all. Once I pulled the front O2 sensors so it could breathe, it would start and run. The only thing that tipped me off a clogged cat was years earlier I had a muffler collapse while driving down the interstate. It felt like it had jumped timing and started backfiring through the carburetor.

I had one of the 5th gen maximas with the pre cats that broke into pieces and the grit found its way into the engine from exhaust gas reversion and scored the cyls :/

Damn.. Sorry to hear that. IIRC that was the early 5th gens? The later versions had the 3.5 -- some had oil consumption issues.

I've actually only driven and owned 4th gens. No idea what anything later would be like.

When I hear about rattling cats on a 2UZFE I cringe. Scares the hell out of me.

I've only had fourth and fifth gens, the model youre describing was 4.5gen... a 5th gen body with the 4th gen engine and trans and later the 5th gen engine with the 4th gen trans... both kinda crappy combos given the weight of the 5th gen and the huge power increase of the 3.5. I stayed away from 4.5 gens

The 1995 model (tunable) and 1998 pre-NATS are my favorite years. The 1999 model is ok but had a round with NATS until I figured out the quirks.

Warpspeed performance is about 2 hours north of me. They still sell them.

    http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/maxima-exhaust-parts.html

I've been running their y-pipes for years.

If I hadn't discovered the y-pipes early on, I doubt I would still be running them.

The two 4th gens we have are the quiet workhorses that bring in the money so I can piss it off on Toyotas.
