Replacement BRZ tweeter fitment into tacoma dash

These look to be the same as the other subaru kicker tweeters and was wondering if they are the same. Looks like the mounts can be removed from tweeter to fit into oem location.
And they are half the price

You can get pretty much any 1"-3" tweeter to fit in there, some require more work. Myself a couple others have managed to fit even the focal 3.5 wm's.

 

Are they Kickers or the OEM BRZ tweeters? Don't the aftermarket Kickers have a grille?

 

Yes the kickers have a grill on them. Not bad for the money.

Correct, i assumed those were the brz's he's referring to.

 

Tons of oems use 2.5 dash corner speakers and while they might look the same I kinda doubt they are. The guy who modified his to fit a 3.5 has the right idea imho.

 

If anyone is "super serious" about audio in the tacoma, the "best" route is going three way up front, sub, and ignore back speakers. The sails on the doors are incredibly easy to craft, just takes a little time. I made the mistake of upgrading tweeters to kickers, then wanting more and more.

 

Why not just go with the Subaru Kicker tweeters? These look like just another set of basic tweeters. Probably worse sounding that was our trucks come with.

 

I have the jbl amp not sure where to even begin with the wiring of a 3 wsy setup like that

 

I had a 2015 WRX and I think these are the same as the stock ones that came on that. If so, they are at best equal to the Taco's stock tweeters.
The Kickers are a big upgrade though.

 

How crazy do you want to go? Solid option but $$:

Replace Headunit, not mandatory but recommended.
Get amp/dsp that can do 3 way and have the ability to tune your sub as well (helix p six mk2 for example)
3 way speakers (gb10, gb25, gb60 audio frog for example) you will need to craft sails, rewiring is recommended but not mandatory
mr marv sub box, sub (mr marv can take car of it for you too)
Inexpensive amp for sub

 

Ok I won't buy these, ill probably go with a 3" and make a bracket/mount

 

I wont be changing the headunit, i already have a jl sub and amp. I was just gonna change the front tweeters and speakers without a 4 channel

 

Damnit, wish i would have seen could fit 3.5's - I have my tweeters arriving tomrrow and went with 1" Punch silk domes as I have all other RF speakers. Sub and amp not installed yet but will be different brands the RF's are good for mids and highs.

 

Don't regret too much, you would 100% have to cut to get it to fit. Its a giant pain in the ass for the 3.5s.

 

I have had to anyway, didn't order the kits for the 6x9's and 6.5's, rears I could cut up and made work with the stock speakers busted out, for the front 6x9's I had to fab out of mdf, the mdf was for my rear seat delete in my mustang, oh well, sounds a ton better

 

Stopped by a local car audio shop and one of the techs has a 2018 taco and he recommended these.

I wonder what the difference is in comparison with the Subaru direct replacements? Just bracket and connector? or is there a build difference
