So - the wife wants to get a bigger camper and as much as I want to keep my Tacoma, I just know I won't be happy towing even 4k lbs with it so it's time to start looking at full size trucks with the intent to purchase in the next 6 months or so. So I'm starting to look at options of selling one of our vehicles. Either my Tacoma, her 2015 4runner (stock), or my 2015 BMW M235i (stock-ish).

I'd just like to get the TW opinion on what the Tacoma would be worth as it sits to help me make up my mind if I part-out or not. Not even testing the waters at this point - just trying to make a halfway informed decision about whether or not I start taking my truck apart. I know I won't be recovering nearly the money I have in to the truck but would like to figure out at least a ball park value to figure out which vehicle to sell.

2017 Double Cab Long Bed 4x4 TRD Offroad
    Towing and Tech Packages
    ~50k miles

All maintenance is up to date with oil changes every 5k miles and everything is excellent condition except some trail pin-striping. It has a clean carfax and I have the clean title in hand

I'm located in Utah and the Tacoma market (truck market in general) here is super hot too.

That part should be pretty straight forward as NADA puts the value at $34k - but the mods is where it gets tricky. Since I'm not in a huge hurry to sell I have some options to either sell the truck as it sits or either partially part out or start swapping parts over to my wife's 4runner. Obviously some things like the SC and gears I'm not too keen on removing so will stay on the truck.

    Here's the highlights:

    Performance
    Magnuson Super Charger
    Nitro 4.88 Gears

    Misc
    TRD Pro Grill (OEM)
    AluCab Explorer Canopy
    OEM roof rack
    OEM Bed mat
Proforce water pump (in bed cubby)
    TC Bed stiffeners
    Mountain Hatch Tailgate

    Front Suspension
    Icon 2.5 CDC Front Coil-overs
    Icon Delta Joint UCA
    Dirt King Ball Joint LCA
    Marlin Crawler LCA braces
    Cab Mount Chop

    Rear Suspension
Icon Stage 3 RXT Bypass Shocks
OME EL096R Rear Leaf Packs w/ AAL
    Icon Hydraulic Bump Stops
    Archive Garage Hammer Hangers

    Wheels/Tires
    (5) Method 701 16x8 Wheels
    (6) Falken Wildpeak 285/75/16 tires

    Armor
CBI Front bumper with Smittybilt X20 winch
CBI Rear bumper with dual swing outs
Mobtown Front and transmission skids (Aluminum)
    RCI Gas Tank Skid (Steel)
    RCI Sliders

    Electrical
SDHQ Dual battery with Odyssey battery
    Switch Pros SP-8100
Baja Designs Squadron sport fog & ditch lights
    Rigid Ignite reverse lights
12v outlet w/ USB in bed
    Rock Lights
    Bed lights mounted in canopy

Uptop rack shown in the photos is no longer on the truck and replaced with OEM.
Not going to sell the tent either

You'll get more money if you return it to stock and sell the parts separately.

You might get lucky to find that one overexcited kid with enough cash in hand, since most banks wont finance over KBB. But you'll have to wade through a mountain of bullshit and being jerked around to get there.

Yep, this. A hot market might bump you a little over KBB, but your parts aren't investments, they don't increase the value and could hurt the value (I personally would never consider a truck with an aftermarket SC that I didn't do myself). As mentioned, you could find someone out there that's looking for exactly this and may be willing to pay more, but in general, you're probably a couple grand over KBB.

HA! I'd love to find me some overexcited kid with too much cash in hand but that's probably not the case...

I know the smart decision is to part out but wanted to get some opinions anyway.

Worst case is I could list it for $70k on craigslist and at least give you folks something to laugh about :D

Whatever your decide to sell, don't wait 6 months if you can help it. Seller market right now, once the pandemic has cooled off and the used market follows, prices will go back down to normal rape levels on Toyota trucks/SUVs. That being said, new full size trucks from the big 3 are pretty cheap right now if you don't need to have the latest/greatest tech and top end packages. My buddy leased a 4 door (doublecab?) v8 ram 1500 4x4 for under $350/month just a few weeks ago. $0 down. Not sure what asking price is for buying. Financing is pretty good right now, too, if you want to or have to go that route.

Try it. Again, look at the first reply.
Someone will 'negotiate down' to $55-60 and they'll feel like they're getting a great deal. Especially if it's as hot a market as you think it is in your area.

Post it on FB, IG, anywhere where 'likes' matters to people.

Problem with aftermarket mods is you have to find that one person that wants the truck outfitted just like you did it.......or someone will buy it because your price is too good to pass-up. Dealerships typically don't place any value on the mods as they can't finance them on resale of a used vehicle...or at least that is what I have always been told.

Rip all the aftermarket stuff off and sell it stock for 30-32.

performance and cosmetic mods very rarely add resale value to an offroad vehicle, and in a lot of cases they might even decrease it and make it less desirable.
