My SR was MGM.... Such a solid color.

If course that was a 2.7L, so I guess I'm off topic again

I get that it's Japanese made, And it's got quite a bit of guts for its size. I love that engine in both my SR and my 4x4 SR5 (Rip Inferno)

That being said, some of the off-roading I've done and some of the towing I've done with the 3.5, would not have been possible with that little 2.7.

Does it have guts for its size? In the age of direct injection, it seems to be sorely lacking in the power department. The Chevy Colorado 2.5 I4 produces 200 hp and 191 tq. Damn fine engine don't get me wrong, but time and the weight of the Tacoma have passed it by.

I'd take that 2.7L anywhere in the world though. Toughness and proven reliability mean a LOT, esp with smaller engines being tasked.

Chevy hasn't made an impressive small engine in.... About forever.

Oh I'm with you 100%. Just wish Toyota put a little effort into the engine to boost its power a bit while maintaining reliability. I would love to pick up a 16-17 4x4 5 speed someday.

I’m getting regularly 27-28mpg on highway with my v6 and have a double cab and v6 with auto tranny . It’s all about how hard you push gas pedal I run about 60-65 on highway and when I drive I try to have the shift points around 15-1800 rpm consistently and I’ve noticed I get worse mpg with the cruise control on , also I use Lucas fuel treatment on every fuel up and notice when I don’t use the Lucas I get bad mpg , without it I get around 24-25 mpg
