Toyota TRD OEM lift kit

That’s something I would definitely have been interested in when i first purchased my truck. Figuring out suspension can be a real headache.

 

Would this work for my 2018 TRD OR?

 

Interesting. I'm curious how much Toyota will charge for it.

 

Someone made a post about this kit yesterday with an attachment that listed part numbers and costs. It was something like $1400 plus installation. They won't sell it to the public it didn't sound like.

 

TRD products can be purchased by the public and installed by the user and do not void any warranty.

 

The documentation listed it as a dealer-installed-option only. I'm trying to find the post.

It says MY21, I imagine it should fit all 3rd gen

 

Just looked on a few Toyota OEM parts sites and it allows purchase and delivery. Doesn't say anywhere dealer only install. TRD are made for end user install. Interesting though.

 

I dunno. I'm just repeating what it says on the document. Right below the price.

 

Interesting that Toyota is offering an OEM lift kit. That might be a good option for someone who doesn't want to try to figure out which shocks/springs/AAL/leaf pack etc. to go with. Or someone that wants to stay with OEM parts. I'm curious to see what the quality is like and whether or not it's an improvement over stock ride quality.

 

You might as well get bilstein 5100’s and an add a leaf. The dealer will probably void the warranty if you have taken the truck offroad.

 

Is it possible to get a non-radar garnish cover to use the grill on 2016-2017 trucks?

 

Well if you sell a truck with 'off road' and "racing" on it you pretty much have their blessing to take it off road. Interesting point though.

 

You’d think but I’ve heard of dealers voiding warranties for that reason. Know a guy with a Chevy 2500 Z71 and took it mudding(off-roading technically) and damaged something suspension related and the dealer wouldn’t cover it even though it was brand new and the off road trim. Toyota seems strict to begin with refusing to sell pro grills without a pro vin so I’m just assuming.

 

This is correct. Had hood separation from hood stiffeners/braces and dealer asked me if I ever took offroad and I said yeah some forest service roads and whatnot, they refused to remedy because they said it was probably due to "high speed offroad use", even though I know others have had the same issue on here for "hood vibration". But lucky for me the fix was super easy and doable for me as a diy project.

 

I get it. To me though it's like they advertise it it offroading, through mud and water and over rocks but when you buy it you can't do that? lol Just would seem bizarre to me.

It's uncommon these days - dealer install only means when purchased as part of a new vehicle, the dealer does the install as compared to the more typical port/region installs of most all other accessories.

It may not seem like much of difference, but, the port does the window sticker, so dealer install won't show in MSRP. It also means dealers can upcharge for a nice profit too.

But, these are parts like any others, any OEM parts source can and will sell them.

 

Yeh if they let you install a supercharger you can put on shocks...lol
