Raise your hand if you've locked yourself out of your push to start Tacoma

Its this kinda out of the box thinking that keeps me coming back to this place.

 

Honestly, I like your enthusiasm, but I'd rather cut off the roof than smash out the front windshield.

Sounds as if they replaced the outside handle mechanism with a small servo or electric motor.

 

I don't think the back slider section can be replaced by itself... I think you need the whole window. That's probably the 2nd most expensive option after the plasma cutter.

Home Depot usually has these in the tool section. Put it in the top right corner of the door and pump it up enough to get something in there to manually unlock the door or hook on the hood release.

Is interior access necessary for a windshield job? I didn’t think it was, aside from fixing the mirror, etc

 

Ok scrap the back window. But, the doors and windows on these Tacomas are tighter than a bug's ass. It's an access cab, how about the back side windows? The fastest way is through the cheapest window.

Unless anyone has popped the hood through the front grill. Now that I'm three beers in, I'm thinking the front grill has to go.

And if anyone is questioning this, yes I'm locked out of my truck. May just get really drunk and trade it for a Ridgeline.

That was a joke and you'll have to take the satirical leap. Honda generators, yes Honda trucks, they don't make one.

It's either a window or the front grill. Anyone know if you can pop the hood with the grill out? It would be cheaper at $100.

 

Yes.. yes I do but they'll bring a slim jim, do you know if you can jimmy the locks like the old school cars and trucks? I took off the inside door panel installing god knows what last year and it looks like the locks are on the inside separated by some shizzle.

Not sure about popping the hood but with the grill out you might get access to the battery terminals.

 

Is it below freezing? Or was it overnight? Could try some lock de-icer and the key again.

 

I can see the hood mechanism through the faux grill. If anyone knows how to operate it then you may be able to do this without damage.

 

Let me go out to my truck and see if I can figure that out.

I'm pretty sure I'm going that route first, this pos faux pro grill is $100. Totally expendable.

Can't you just take the two bolts out of hood latch? I can see them clearly in the above pic through the grill. That may allow the hood up enough to get to the battery?
