Is that actually the top 5, or is it the only 5?

If it's the only 5 you're in great shape.

If it's the top 5, let's hear the rest so we can see if you have them ranked correctly. :D

    LOL. Look, a squirrel!

As you've learned, making a $40k financial commitment based on looks and smell alone isn't your best play.........

Of course after all these responses to your first post you might not be feeling extra warm and fuzzy.

So, welcome to the forum! :hattip:

Maybe I'll time it and see how long the headlights stay on. I think they're 55 Watts each, it's not insignificant. But I guess I can live with it.

One amp trickle charger? The ones made by Noco have a harness that connects straight to the battery, that are thin enough to fit in the gap around the headlight or similar. She would just plug it in when she parks it. Hopefully she will remember to unplug it before she drives away.

There are also 10 Watt solar chargers, I put one made by Renology in my wife's car. It attaches to the inside of a glass surface with suction cups that seem to keep it in place on the road. It will trickle charge the battery. If the cigar lighter is wired straight to the battery, you can just plug it in there.

Most 6 speed autos have 2 OD gears. I know both the Chevy and Ford 6 speed autos had two OD gears.

I havent noticed an issue with the shifting on my 16 OR after the trans update at ~4500 miles. I have noticed zero issues so far with my 21 OR except for it only has 1000miles on it now so its still in learning mode. Every once in awhile if I hit the throttle in an odd spot (going around a slow car or the like) it'll pause for a second.

You can adjust how long they stay on in the settings. If you lock the truck with the fob twice they turn off.

    No they don't.

The Chevy 6L50 has two O/D gears but it's only on the 4 cylinder models, the V6 has an 8 speed transmission. The ranger comes with a 10 speed transmission.

    Nissan went from a 5 speed single O/D to a 9 speed.

    Try again.

Thanks for the info. I have been using the handle to lock my truck. My last vehicle I had for over 12 years and the fobs (2) both wore out from use.

Yes, you have to open the door first though. But if you manually turn on your lights, safety features automatically shut them off too to prevent battery drainage.

The only thing that I do not like on my '19 TRD OR is that it tells me my distance drove and gas mileage when I turn off the engine. I know that I am getting crappy gas mileage, the truck doesn't have to tell me.

I leave my non "auto" lights in the "on" position and when I get out and lock my doors they shut off, so pretty much like auto lights.. this is on a non tech/prem 17 sport.

I said most 6 speed autos have 2 OD, nothing about people still using them. Having 2 OD ratios in a 6 speed is a normal thing. Yeah, most people have moved on from the 6 speed but that doesn't negate that most 6 speed autos have 2 OD gears. It is nothing unique to the Tacoma other than being behind the times and still using a 6 speed.

    Ford 6r80 - 4.17, 2.34, 1.52, 1.14, 0.87, and 0.69:1
    Chevy 6l80 - 4.03, 2.36, 1.53, 1.15, .85 and .67:1

I timed my vehicle today by turning it off with the auto lights on. The light shut off after about 25 seconds.

I took a trip today and paid attention to the tachometer. I was climbing a very steep grade, probably about 25%, for about 1.5 miles. I was exceeding the speed limit slightly, doing nearly 50 mph, and my rpms never exceeded 2000. I am satisfied with that kind of performance. Interestingly though, the 6 mile trip to my destination - mainly down this steep grade, then relatively level - yielded 19.8 mpg, while the return trip - up the steep hill - yielded 17.2 mpg.

Yep. If you're like me and you sit in your truck for a bit before work, you'll have to open the door and shut it or they'll just remain on until after you get out.

Then why did you buy it if it was "so behind the times"?

Were you surprised it had a six speed and rear drum brakes after you got it home?

The way the Taco is still built in an ‘Old School’ (or however you want to describe it) way is actually one of the reasons why I bought a Taco and not something else. For me I think the Taco is a nice mix of old and new and at least for me works pretty well.

Only complaint I have is the gauges on the dashboard aren’t backlit. First vehicle I’ve had in years where they weren’t.
