All right......I have a question about Death Valley. First time going, I was pretty much just gonna do titan, race track, over Lippincott to saline. Is Lippincott pass that bad? I’ll be a 2500 with a cab over camper.

I drove from Saline to racetrack over lippincott in October in my taco. It was not as bad as i was expecting. there were a couple spots where, if the passenger opened his door, there would be nothing but a steep drop below. but nothing crazy technical. If they have gotten any rains since then, what i said may be completely invalid. You're in for a real treat, DV is one of my favorite places!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been and Lippincott changes a little bit every year but the only sketch part is towards the bottom there’s the famous off camber spot. You’ll be fine but there will be a little bit more of a pucker factor with the full size and a camper.

Can anyone suggest a lumber supplier in town or nearby that might stock (or can order in) a 6' long piece of birch that I could use a baseplate in my longbed? I am going out to the Bay Area hopefully early next month to pick up my Drifter and could grab something out there if needed as well.

are you looking for something pretty wide? i've been buying a ton of birch from MasterCraft Hardwoods here, but its mostly narrower boards (<12"). I'm getting a slab island counter top built by Tahoe Slab Furniture, they might be able to source a larger slab or even have something available.

Edited: meant less than 12" haha

Like bed width wide haha. I know people can get 5x5 sheet pretty easy but the longer length is harder

Could you take a couple shorter lengths and tongue and groove them and seal them?

If I had to. Not preferred and I know guys have been able to get longer pieces from boat builders but was just looking for something closer. I’ll reach out to MasterCraft for ideas. Thanks guys

Why not use marine grade Baltic Birch 3/4 ply? It should be readily available at any decent lumber yard.

That's what I am looking for but then I am limited to 4'x8' sheets at Lowe's or HD. Was thinking Truckee-Tahoe Lumber or MasterCraft if people had experience with bigger stuff or these stores.

Won't be able to get you in that fast, however Nate's precision here in town can handle the job. Order and pick up a set of our CMC plates and make an appointment with them and they can get you taken care of.
