Sounds expensive and probably not worth it for being only at 30k. Use some techron, seafoam or something like BG 44k fuel system cleaner. Probably all you need if that.
I would not let them change to engine air and cabin air filters either. Both would be simple to do yourself for under $40 in parts and you'd hardly get your hands dirty.
Consider finding a good independent mechanic maybe instead of the dealership once the "free" service is used up too.

I used to do the BG44k fuel cleanings at an independent shop. The 44k in the tank is great for cleaning everything that fuel touches but nothing cleans from the throttle body down to the injectors unless you do the 44k service where it sprays cleaner right into the throttle body for several minutes as someone else said. Which is the best way to clean it. Countless customers thanked us for fixing their sticky throttle this way. Which was just gunk built up on the butterfly. Probably countless other ports/holes in there un-gunked as well. So just using stuff in the tank is not enough. Is dealer price high, of course. Is it a scam, not if done right. Does it need to be done very 30k. Probably not.

Just forgot to mention. Is it a proper procedure? Maybe. If its actually gonna get done, is it gonna get done properly? Who knows. Does it needed to be done at 30k miles? No way. Nowhere in the manual or maintenance sched it says that.

So my point is the dealer is lying straight to your face, doesnt care about you and only want your money.

If i upsell something thats not neccessary to the cust, i wont be able to sleep at night and i know karma is a bitch.

Lol let's say you weigh 500 lbs... your face is beet red and you can't walk but those fries and cheesecake are still gonna be offered.
Now what pisses me off is when people get taken advantage of that cannot afford it.
If they fool me, good on them because that means they are really good liars.
But to take advantage of a lady with a 20 year old beater living on a fixed income.... that's what kills me.
Or a kid. Nobody should take advantage of a kid.
    Or a dog.
That's it... old lady's, kids and dogs.

Yep, luxury lines are way better. I work for a Jaguar/Land Rover dealership and its the best place ive ever worked. My wife has an Infiniti and taking her car in for anything is a breeze.

What you said makes sense. I just really hate liars, thats the worst human quality IMO. Well and thieves, fucking hate thieves.

I try to be super honest and go an extra mile for every single customer, it slows me down at work. I expect the same from others. Unfortunately thats not the case a lot of the times.

Ive been trying to change some things about myself last couple of years. The two hardest things have been quitting drinking soda, and to stop "expecting me out of everybody else". I hold myself to higher standards and I lose it when others dont do the same. If im in a mall for more than about an hour im in a rage by the time we leave.

    Yeah i hear you man.

I quit soda about 4 years ago, now beer is a different story... But the other part you mentioned yeah, so true. Life would be much easier that way.

Now they can deny a fuel system claim because you deferred that service.
    Just kidding...mostly.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
TOP is probably some codename for throttlebody and intake cleaning service. BG has a service machine for it; im sure others do too. It atomizes the cleaner and supposedly helps get all that lovely carbon off of the tb, intake and intake valves.

Our engine comes with a cleaning cycle so the carbon deposits on the intake valves shouldn't be really cakes. If you've ever seen a VW or Hyundai GDi and tried cleaning the carbon, you also know that service will make absolutely no difference as that stuff is like concrete. There's a reason walnut media blasting exists.

Anyway, problem with those services is you risk getting nice large chunks of carbon directly into your cylinder where they can get heated, float around for a few cycles and then get stuck in your Cat. Unless you're doing it every few thousand, there's no sense in getting it. CRC makes a GDI cleaning spray you can do yourself.

Afterwards, you also want to do an oil change due to garbage ending up in your oil. So if they do the service after changing your oil, guess where the detergent and crap it washed off is going.

In this case if it ain't broken, it's not worth it.

    re: Dealers>
We bought a new 2011 FJ Cruiser. Took it in for the "free oil change and tire rotation" at 10K miles
As I waited I asked the concierge guy wandering around the waiting room why it was taking so long.
He told me- it takes longer for them to change oil because they have a special rack for oil changes that after they drain the oil it tilts the vehicle forward and back and side to side and shakes it for several minutes to "get all the old oil" out.

You can't make this s*it up!

    Never went back after that.....

Wow. I’ve been in well over 1500 shops from 2006-2020, never seen a rack like that in a car shop. They do make a diagnostic rack for heavy truck shops that can shake the entire rig in various ways to diagnose suspension issues, but I only ever saw one in a shop.

Fun fact, the Toyota fuel injector cleaner is certified by the EPA as a product of Chevron, along with Honda's version and a few others. So .... Techron, $5 at Walmart.
