They’re on a referral basis — you gotta know a member to get in. It’s a dedicated powerlifting gym and I believe they have a set number of membership slots. Not sure if it’s shut down due to COVID.

I'm not familiar with this "extra" cookie dough you speak of.

you may want to check out Ironground Gym in Murray, UT. If you're looking for something pretty specific. On of my Physical Therapy Program Professors works out of there treating athletes and works out there himself as well. I've checked it out and it seems to be a pretty no BS type gym. Also, Ute Crossfit (dont judge me, just the messenger) has a dedicated powerlifting and olympic lifting space. One of my good friends Greg is their Oly coach, I'd be happy to get you in contact with him if you'd like?

Damnit.... know anyone who is a member there? Lol

I’ll check them out for sure. Would prefer to stay out of a CrossFit gym, mainly because of price. But I may end up checking them out for sure, and if so I’ll have you get me in contact with your buddy. I appreciate it.

I was hopeful when I first saw the pictures online for the new Defender...even asked my wife if she wanted it to be her next vehicle (she had an LR3 that she absolutely loved). Then I saw one in person and wasn't sure it was the same thing because it was so damn ugly.

Big Mountain is legit. I've never lifted there but know several guys that are serious powerlifters (compete, hold records, etc) that lift there and like it. Back when I had a lifting coach, after he left the gym he and his brother started, he started coaching through them but he ended up having some medical issues (don't remember exactly what the name was, something connecting to his heart detached from it and pumped blood in to his body instead of veins or something like that, about killed him) so last I spoke with him, he had started his own window cleaning business. If you want instructor/coach led classes then Pure Workout is great (they're not too far from Big Mountain). I worked-out there for probably 9 months before doing a private training program. It got me going again. They have all the equipment you're looking for but if you want open gym, last I was around there, they didn't offer that to the masses. A few of us would go in at 5am and lift, but it was limited on who they would let do that.

I met a member when I bought a bench a while ago and he wanted to give me his membership. I haven't talked to him in months but he made the gym sound like god's gift to earth. You could try calling the owners -- they seemed pretty chill. I went the "build it yourself route" -- got some calibrated plates on order :D (but in lbs... because America).

Good to know... I don’t want to go the class route as I have a few different programs I plan to run on my own and a coach that I work with sometimes. I’m not super strong by any stretch of the imagination, but I plan to compete at 83kg in USAPL. I’m good for right at an 1100lb total on any given day.

I’ll definitely give them a call and see if I can talk my way in. Maybe they’ll take pity on me since I’m already a member of a PL org and not some rando gym bro

If I wasn’t moving into a 3rd floor apartment then I’d definitely go the home gym route... don’t think my new downstairs neighbors would be happy about 400lb+ deadlifts

I had a similar conversation with my wife. She didn't like the new Defender and picked this instead :D

Considering I could feel my VERY stompy upstairs neighbors through laying on the couch, Id wager that weightload would end up in the groundfloor kitchen.

Really quiet complex , but they must have been hitting the resonant freq of the building I swear.

Nice, my wife’s dream vehicle is a new AMG G-Class. I told her if we’re spending $200k on a new vehicle, it wouldn’t be that (no idea what I’d actually be willing to spend that on)

Nice! That’s what I compete at but I went IPF instead of USAPL. No one will catch Russell Orhii in USAPL :anonymous:

Yea, this is a 2005 G500 with 56,000 miles. Still plenty of power with a 5L V8 and it's got the solid front axle. More importantly, it didn't cost anywhere near $200K.

I didn't think I'd like it that much, but it's a blast. The driving position and visibility are amazing. I've got some fox shocks coming for it and then I'll see what it can do in the dirt.

Honestly, it isnt bad at all. Never heard a peep of music, TV, etc. Just one set of stompy neighbors.

I'd get a place in that complex again if I had to.

Interestingly that’s the same reason she loved her LR3. She liked the driving position and felt like she was above most vehicles so could see better. She went from the LR3 to a Lexus F-sport and hated most things about the Lexus because largely she felt like her visibility was limited because she was so low to the ground.

The G is the best vehicle I've ever driven from a driving position stand-point. Only comparable vehicles I've drive are old vans with the short hood, like our GMC safari or a Westfalia.
