Sup Phil, just trying to keep myself entertained and away from the 'news' coverage.

Installed the best 2nd Gen mod of them all on the truck today. Remote starter w/ a parking mode. you can put it back in remote mode and take the keys out while you go in a store. Just in time for the 30 degree mornings that are on the way.

Yup. I put one in my 2015. Took about 30 minutes and was extremely easy.

I’ve not been keeping up. Could’ve gouged them out with my hand held torch. Given I’ve not had much experience with gouging function on the Hypertherm I’d let you use it.

I was working in the field a couple of weeks ago and a couple of the guys had them. They started their trucks from the tent and it was nice and warm when we ran over to get in. I decided right then that it was the next mod. Put it in this afternoon in the driveway in about an hour.

Was it plug-n-play or did you have to splice into something?

The big names now are 12 volt solutions and n2 designs. There’s start x or something like that from Amazon but zero support from what I’ve read. I ended up purchasing mine through a guy here on tw named @jmeitz and was very easy. Guy had everything programmed, registered and fully setup for me before the product arrived. The guy I purchased my remote start from for my 2015 was off Amazon and did same thing basically. Had to call and ask a question and guy gave me his personal cell phone number. Always thought highly of people that support their product and are big on customer satisfaction.

Now.... little swayed off topic but I can only imagine how profitable ovtune business would be if his customer support even virtually existed. Absolutely everything from his company is slow, delayed, put off, it’s coming, picks and chooses which emails to respond to.... he’s extremely blessed he has no competition or else his business would fold.

Customer support goes a long way in my book. I'd rather pay a bit more if you can count on the company.

Mine was plug and play best I can remember. May have had to tap one wire maybe if any. I got mine with a long range two way remote and could start that sucker anywhere I was at upon parking the truck. Granted, I never walked for miles just to check it but parking lot to galleria, started everytime. Inside movie theater, anywhere on the property where I worked. Never once found a spot it wouldn’t start when I tried.

Now.... my new one uses factory key fob which I like much better since I don’t have to carry an extra key fob. But mine also has cell phone start capability so anywhere it has cell service I can start it.
