Don’t forget the warranty differed if you had a dealer do it or you DIY’d it.

True, but it's the same warranty I was told many times over when installing TRD parts on my car. They can say you installed it wrong.

It would be super cool if they offered several factory leaf options similar to the icon rxt pack. Stouter options for people who are going to load it up with gear right away and a base option that rides where stock Tacoma’s do now.

Fair point, when you buy the parts and DIY, you get a parts warranty only. Dealer install gets you warranty on faulty install as well as labor to replace faulty parts.

Questions to those with experience, I wonder if you could DIY and pay the dealer a few bucks to inspect it, get an official service record documenting it was installed correctly.

I asked that too...lol They told me they can look (visual inspection) at it for a fee but won't give the better warranty since they don't know if the torque is right on the bolts etc. Something they record they did to ensure the better warranty.

I would be OK without a labor warranty on the lift itself, just looking to avoid them not honoring warranty on other parts, say a CV or front differential, by trying to blame it on an improperly installed OEM lift.

The whole torque thing is amusing, they don't record that, lucky if they even bothered to torque at all.

Very true. yes. I installed lowering springs on my Toyota 86, they told me that the part is covered but if that part damages another warrantied (non TRD) part because of improper install then the affected part won't be covered. If they installed it improperly then the part it damaged would be covered.

With the supercharger they gave you the full factory powertrain warranty whereas if you DIY’d it, you didn’t get that.

I like the idea of an OEM kit because in theory it should be higher quality than aftermarket and fit better, but who knows.

That (and the price) was a driving factor for my 2G Pro kit. I threw it in myself because I knew I could do it just as good as a dealer tech and I wasn’t terribly worried about my warranty. My dealer replaced my 2G transmission post-lift.

I like the idea of this kit too, not just for the presumed OEM quality, but also what should the engineering of it - including the efforts they invested to validate TSS functions. I would guess TSS is why the DCLB is excluded.

It's interesting to consider, and understandable why it may have taken so long to release, this kit would put an SR on the road with a 1-inch lift over the Pro, with the Pro grille as well, straight from a dealer new.

I think the R and D they put into TRD line is very good. The TRD items I put on my car were well made, performed as advertised and had great install instructions. I think TRD is a very good option for some.

I wonder why the need for the fog light replacement covers. Does Toyota suggest removing the fog lights as part of the installation of the kit?

Also with a separate part number for the shocks and struts they could be purchased without the rest of the kit.

You misunderstood. The base $510 kit just includes "small parts" - U-bolts, fog light blanking plates, and leaf spacers  You still need to buy the Pro grille, shocks, and new radar separately...

Welcome to the baggage of OEM certification. Being port-installed means it has to meet new-vehicle mfg regulations. The lift probably causes the OEM fog light beam pattern to violate SAE J583. (The Pro probably gets around this with the different Rigid fog lights.)

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does the pro grille/new sensor have to be installed in order to work properly due to the extra height or could one just buy the lift parts and leave the stock grille and sensors and not have any issue?

Stock grille and sensors will work OK most of the time, like people have been doing for the past 3 years...

I'm lifted 2.7" up front, with the sensor moved up another 0.4" with the 2020 grille swap, and get no errors with TSS or adaptive cruise. This is not to say TSS will perform to OEM specifications. It's possible the pre-collision warning will trigger at a different distance, miss pedestrians below a certain height, etc.

Called my dealership this morning and was told installed was$2600. I was told 3 hours of that was set up of the front sensor. Even if I installed everything I would still have to take it there to have the sensor set up.

I put the trd lift in my truck this weekend. Can’t decide if the front is higher than the back. May go back in and lower one notch on the front shock. What do you guys think? 36A76434-E8F5-4F67-8241-847B839A755D.jpgE25271C6-CE53-488A-A05C-2CB237FD3F47.jpg

The top picture looks a little nose high, but the second looks level. Hard to tell though. How’s the ride quality?

Ride quality is great. I can’t really tell any difference from stock.
