I don’t know. I would assume there’d be a little left, like that bottle of A1 Steak Sauce in the fridge that you leave upside down and everytime you use it you always manage to get a couple of drops out of it.

It is under the "trip" setting. Every time you fuel up, you enter how much gas you put in(under the "more" setting I believe, and what the gas cost. And it calculates for you based on your driving habits. It is usually spot on.

The fuel light comes on at approximately 3.5 gallons, but as stated, the pickup tube cannot get it all out... assume 3 gallons best case scenario.
Running out of fuel may or may not cause some problems with your fuel system (pump, injectors, etc.)

This is a silly question. To many variables effect mileage.

But the answer is simple enough for the lowest of IQ to understand. Until you run out of gas.

The light is there for these same low IQ individuals.

Some words I heard once in my youth that I should have already known:

"You know, it's a lot easier to keep gas in it than it is to find gas for it".

Haven't run out in the last 40 years.

My truck stops running (runs out of gas?) before the light comes on. The light used to come on. The truck has stopped running (run out of gas?) 3 times. The first time I thought it was just an anomaly. The second time my grandson was driving when it happened. After that I always try to make sure I get gas well before I think the light is about to come on. The third time? Well, I just wasn't paying attention and it happened again. So now I never let it get below 1/4 full.

Once upon a time, still applies today, gas gauges were unreliable.

Dad had a rule. When it hits half fill it. I’ve run out of gas zero times in fifty years. Dad’s are pretty smart. Too bad kids don’t listen.

    :rofl:My pleasure :hattip:

I use mine mostly to track fuel stats, water temp, and both sensors on the transmission.

As a motorcycle rider....a fuel level gauge is rare. Definitely not part of an '81 Honda.

I use the trip odometer to monitor my fuel. Typically around 100 miles or so, the engine will sputter, trip odo show +/- 100 miles, switch to the Reserve tank, engine comes back to life, find a station within the next 20 miles.

My point. If your fuel gauge isn't working, then try using the Trip Odometer. Fill at 300 miles, record the amount you fill, figure mpg, use a bit of math then you could increase the "Fill Distance". After a couple of tanks, you'll find a comfortable "Fill Distance"

360 miles out of a tank of gas.. i wanna call BS, but I can't. I'm just jealous. I get 200 miles out of a tank.

But, to add to the thread, I have never gone further than 30 miles once my light ticked on. And like someone else said, it was a long 30 miles. I will also say even then I've never put more than 19.5 gallons in the truck either.

Ah, okay thanks. I’d only entered in that info on the initial setup and never again. Will maybe start playing around with it.

Put myself in this position few weeks back on a 2000 mile trip. Drove ~15miles not after my light came on, but after I had "0" miles left. Filled about 19.2ga IIRC. Light comes on with 30-something estimated miles left I think. I've pushed it so I know the limit and because I refuse to fill up at 1/2 tank or 1/4 tank when driving 1000 miles/day.

Hitting the road this weekend... I-80 through Nevada is always fun...

Rerouted exhaust, Magna flow muffler. Rancho adjustable struts and shocks. Satoshi style grill, smoked lights.
I can say from personal experience "E" does not stand for enough. I did between 30-40 miles with the gas light on. Forgot to fill up before work, made it there. Did not make it home.

All y'all saying you put xx.x gallons in at the gas station so you have x gallons left, watch out - you can't trust gas stations. They all read differently. Even pumps at the same gas station will read different.

Depends on how far you went before it came on. I’ve gone anywhere from just under 400 to 450. I believe the 3+ gallons left is about right but haven’t tried for more than 60 and not in hilly terrain. I’ve yet to put 20 gallons in it to fill it. I don’t wish to run out but don’t want stale gas either.

    Completely wrong.

Pumps are heavily regulated and controlled by Federal laws and frequent verification checks.

The measured volume is extremely accurate. The only value that moves on the pump is $/gallon.
