Just catch a week ban, it’s easy. Ask me how I know. You’ll have so much time for activities.

    I wish.
Last weekend the wife and I laid down for a nap.
I'd been up all night at work and hadn't slept yet, she fell asleep 5 min after laying down. I ended up getting back up and not napping cause I couldn't fall asleep. :bananadead:

I’ve got a job where sheets and a pillow were issued with uniforms. I’m scheduled for 24 hour shifts and regularly stay 72

    Yeah, fuck that noise.
I just can't sleep during the day. Then I come in here and they insist on turning the lights down... So sue me if I lean back and doze off a bit. lol

Oh I sleep like a baby at night on the weekends. No problem at all.
During the day sucks. You think after 2.5 years on nights, I'd get the hang of it.
Knew a guy who had narcolepsy. Hid his meds a couple times to fuck with him.

I’ve been in it 10 years and we wake up all night for calls. I’m used to it I guess. I sleep when I’m tired.

I wish they would just have me on call. There's no real reason for me to be awake all night.
I come in, work for ~30min then dick around for 6.5 hours, then I work a little more for the last hour.
If something happens in that 6.5 hours, come wake me up ffs.

I go to work and do my routine that takes about 30 minutes then I’m free for 23.5 hours unless someone stubs their toe.

No joke though, I’ve ran calls that I’m super proud of and saved lives but I’ve also ran the ones that had no hope. It’s sometimes a tough thing to deal with, especially kids.

The worst I’ve witnessed still haunts me mentally. He was about 6 years old and looked just like my kid, same clothes and hair color. I watched that kid die and it was heartbreaking and honestly still is. They called me to testify in court in his moms trial. I said you really don’t want me there. She ended up taking the plea bargain

Takes a strong person (mentally at least) to do jobs like that. Thank you for being that person.

Edit: My father was EMT/ambulance driver for 20 years and volunteer ski patroller for 15. I always give anyone in public service my regards and respect. I grew up watching it and hearing it. There were late nights and early mornings I'd wake up to my father coming into my room to hug me or tell me he loved me. Those were the times I knew I'd hear about somebody in our community not going to work or school the next day.

I try to think about the lives I’ve saved but that one always comes to mind. Fucking kids.
