    Some would argue that the junk folder is the proper spot?

    Shipped Dec 19th, arrived today. All the parts are there and in good condition, but I did receive the 8mm clip nut instead of the required 6mm.
    The covers were pre-installed and appear to be a so-so fit, but probably not much worse than the passenger side.
    The metal sleeve in the lower handle mount was loose under the lower cover as others have noted.
    I'll have to round up the proper 6mm part before I can install... the weather is not nice enough to mess with it today anyway.

    I like using handles for other things too. Especially when the bottle is 1.75L or the growler is 64oz.

    What if I drink out of an animal horn that has a strap and no handle?

    Sometimes it pays to be a hardware hoarder . . . maybe? :fingerscrossed:
    Ever since a kid I would strip/save odd hardware/brackets/nuts/bolts from junk stuff before throwing it away. I started thinking about that m6 clip nut and recalled that every now and then I would stumble across some oddball clip nut while looking for some unrelated item in my garage. Turns out I have two, and they are size m6. I'm sure I've had these many years, probably long before everything you buy started being made in China. A possible problem may be that the "clip" part is much larger than the KTJO supplied m8 part. Can anyone who has completed the install tell me if they think these will work?

    Nice work!

    You shouldn't have a problem with that one. The lower mount is pretty wide. The hump on the windshield side was just right to align the hole for me using the supplied nutplate. You'll probably want to close up your nutplate a bit for it to grip and stay aligned.

    My step-father does that with everything! Including PVC plumbing parts. Then he acts surprised when he has plumbing burst... yeah, 50 year old PVC doesn't exactly get better with age.

    I'm the opposite... I refuse to hoard anything. If I haven't needed it for a few months, out it goes. You may have saved yourself $0.50 not having to buy a new clip nut... but what was the cost of storing that for the last 20 years. Not actual rent, but cost in the form of effort... Kudos to people that do it, but it's not for me.

    Edit: If you do hold on to random hardware... I highly recommend a few of these boxes. Easy to organize based on SAE/Metric and type.

    I'm the same as you. My dad has barns and metal buildings full of crap. My step mom tells me, this is all yours when he goes. That's a long ways away but I'm probably burning most of it.

    :rofl::rofl:

    Depends on what it is. I had a rando switch rolling around in my box forever. One day my palm sander shit the bed. Poked and prodded and found out the switch was bad. Open the drawer and that switch was a perfect plug and play match

    Hopefully it's in customer disservice. I've been practicing.
