Gotta have them big fenders to truly block it a lot, I guess some is better than none though. I'm assuming I'll find the back fender more meaningful at keeping my linkages clean than me clean.

    Never catches a root.

I only had a front fender, but even a little mud or a puddle and somehow above the fender or right behind it was dirty. Like it literally did nothing lol

My favorite is being in a forward attack position and the tire flings mud straight up and gets between your cheek and your glasses right into your eyes

Camper is a Vagabond Drifter. There's no way to climb in to the sleeping platform via ladder, so you have to go through the tailgate. The bikes are hardly ever inside the camper though. I've done it maybe two times when I went on a trip and didn't bring the hitch rack, but I just took the bike out when we get to camp. I don't think I've ever camped somewhere that I popped the camper and didn't feel comfortable leaving the bike outside. Only time I've actually climbed over the bikes to get in/out was in the driveway just to try it.

On most bike trips we use a 1up hitch rack with a rakattach swing-out. The bike platform's primary purpse is as a table when we're camping. It's in the center because that area also serves as a galley way inside the camper. Cooler and water go on the passenger side. Kitchen box and propane go on the driver side. The bike slide functionality is more for occasions in which we need secure storage while I'm at work/hotel/whatever.

    oh man it gets better!

Thats a good point of just taking the bikes out while camping since chances are low of theft.

The idea of keeping bikes in the bed is nice since my plans involve heading to the PNW and seeing cities (Portland, Seattle) and I would have a panic attack knowing things are visible.

The removable slide to table is genius!

    Thanks for the pics!

Totally on the security aspect in the city! The camper locks but I added some window covers so no one would even know there's a bike inside. That, to me, is the best peace of mind.

I have a GFC and recently got the new hinges installed. With the new hinges you can pop off the rear hatch with one bolt enabling you to use a tailgate pad pretty quickly. When I first got the camper I really missed flinging my bike in the back.

Does anybody here have experience riding aggressively with a fused wrist? Went down pretty hard and broke my arm / wrist in many places.. lost about 90% range of motion. Will save you from having to scroll through the aftermath photos.

Anyone here recommend a saddle bag that can withstand MTB duties? Looking for something to hold a tube, spare links, hanger, keys, ID. If this has been discussed, what pages? :D

Not a whole lot of MTBer's use saddle bags. mostly because they hang out back and your rear wheel could easily buzz it. ESPECIALLY with a dropper post.

Most I've seen use frame packs. or a fanny pack for all those.

the new GFC hinges are easily removable? man... that sounds like an even better setup. that would make leaving the gfc on full time more appealing

Unless you're running old school with a fixed post, a frame bag of some sort would be a much better option.

Bedrock Bags is my go-to on all my bikes. Holds a tube and all the tools I could want/need on a ride.

I'm an ortho Physical Therapy Assistant/Mountain Biker. I've never had a patient with a truly fused wrist, but this answer is going vary wildly depending on what condition you're actually in and what kind of riding you do. Give me more info and I might be able to give you some armchair advice.

Noob MTB enthusiast on poverty spec bike here. No Dropper, hardtail. Frame pack, that maybe the ticket.

Old school check'n in. I really like that frame mount from Bedrock on your HT.. What size would that be?

I will third the frame pack. I have a dakine hot laps for tools but there are tons of options from cheap Amazon stuff to super nice custom stuff. Revelate designs and oveja negra seem to be easier small business type bags to find around. I’ve also seen decent reviews on some of the Amazon bags too though

Went down going about 30mph on a jump (according to strava). Overshot a landing and planted my wrist directly on a boulder. Its quite a complex break but will do my best to describe. Open fracture of Ulna, broke in 3 spots. End of the Ulna is crushed. Distal Radius fractured in half. Had to have a bone graft from hip to fill in multiple gap. Ortho surgeon said about 14 breaks in total. Some bones in the wrist itself are crushed (not sure of all the medical names). Joint is deformed and not much cartilage remaining. PT and DR is saying I will be able to ride again but not sure they quite know what mountain biking entails. Luckily still have finger movement but only 10% ROM in the wrist joint.

Riding - Ride a bit of everything. I have done 10k foot climbs in one day then the next day shuttle jump lines. Mostly focused on the downs (tech, jumps, fast flow). Only hit the bike park a few times a year here as our shuttle trails have better features than Northstar.

I have seen mixed things online with people with fused wrists on Moto's. not much on MTB's.
