I saved a few dollars on my bed mat from the dealership by installing it myself. I was expecting it to come with some screws or mounting kit. The installation was easy, but it is going to grow legs if I don't fasten it. I was thinking of drilling a hole in a corner of the mat and crimping a piece of steel cable to the bed and a tie down. Any ideas?

The dealer was going to charge you for “installing” a bed mat?

Sorry, I’m no help to your actual question

I like the aircraft cable idea more then drilling into the truck bed. Good luck.

That thing weighs 40lbs and is a gong show to move in or out.. if some skeez is in a bad enough spot to need to take it they can carry it themselves..

    I wouldn’t worry about it.

I live in a nice area, but we still have crimes of opportunity, like people getting things stolen from their vehicles when they leave them unlocked. I would not expect it to be stolen in my driveway, but more in a parking lot. Especially since it can be walked off with in about 1 second.

I'll look into that. Thanks. I guess the way the wind blows in pickup trucks, I don't have to worry about it blowing out of the bed, but I am surprised they don't recommend anchoring it.

It will never come out, its a negative pressure system if anything, there's no worry.

True, it is heavy, but worth about $100. I have seen them for sale on Craigslist and can't think of why people would be selling an almost new bed mat other than they just stole it out of someone's truck.

Only way it’s coming out is manpower or flipping the truck. I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and don’t give it a thought.

I have had the Factory bad mat in my Tacoma's since 2008, never blew out or had anyone steal them.

They said it would cost $129 and I asked if that included installation. They said yes, so I asked if I could install it myself and get it for less. They said they could take $20 off and sell it to me for $109 if I install it myself.

I think you got hosed either way on that deal. They’re usually going for around $80 and even lower during holiday sales.
Is there really any installation involved? Don’t you just toss it in the bed of the truck and call it a day.

At first I worried a little about my bed mat getting stolen too, but I don't really think it happens that often. I think most people wouldn't even know that it's even removable. It's a moot point for mine now though, I recently added a tool box to my bed and bolted it down through the bed mat (and the bed of course).

If you're worried that someone is going to steal your mat you could always leave it out of the truck when you don't need it.

How are you going to secure your windshield wipers and cubby doors next?

You know the whole tailgate comes out in seconds too, right?

OEM bed mat blends in really well and i cant imagine that it would pique the interest of any thieves

I wouldn’t worry about it OP

No, there is no installation involved. It just unrolls and flops into place. All the dealerships near me were selling them over $100 and any place online I found with an $80 price then charged like $50 delivery fee. And I was reading a few comments by people who got cheaper ones and the quality seemed to be hit or miss with some having gashes or molding errors and they suspected they were seconds.
