@Canadian Joe something else I need to figure out apparently

I think it can only be the drum brake wheel cylinder part # 4755004030

Picking that up at 5pm from carquest with brake pads for the rear, do them both while I am at it. Already have the full spring kit, bought it from Pete last year. Now I get to use it!

Can anyone tell me what size bolt I need to thread into the face of the drum to remove it? I know there are threaded bolt holes to assist this operation just cant find what size bolt to buy.

    *edit*
Guess I can just use a pry bar.

Brake fluid, she has a bunch of lights on the dash, all related to brakes, lots of beeping and 0 fluid in the res.

And it does not stop when you push the brakes.

It's much easier to use a bolt to pop them off. It's an 8mm, I believe. When you drive it in, the drum will "pop".
I tried unsuccessfully to pry mine off - the bolt took only seconds!

    Hmmm

I hope you are right, I will get some 8mm bolts on the way home :fingerscrossed:

    *Edit*
    Yep 8mm x 1.25

If you adjust brake shoes you can remove drum by hand. No need for any tools or bolts. Adjuster access hole is located behind of the drum.

Your shoes most likely had worn a groove in the drum. You'll need to back off the star adjuster first. Using the bolts alone can warp the face of the drum otherwise.

Do you have a line wrench for the flare nut at the wheel cylinder?

    @3JOH22A @Norilsk @Canadian Joe

Omg do not do what Wes did.

With out Jeremiah, this would have cost me hundreds of dollhairs at a shop, I would not have been able to get this done by myself. He gonna get paid big times for getting this done with me.
I knew my rear brakes needed some love about 2 months ago. Ignored it. :annoyed:

This is what lead to my issue, the pads on the passenger side where at about -10% left :burp:

I think this led to the brake cylinder on that side fully extending. Which caused it to just puke and die.:pout:

This also caused the adjuster to be 2 threads from fully extended. It would NOT release, we tried for over an hour to get it to release.

This was a nightmare, DO NOT DO WHAT I DID. DO YOUR REAR BRAKE MAINTENANCE. Even though i only have less than 60K KM on my rig, since I dunk it in water and mud so much. This ate my brakes and I ignored it.

I now need to buy 2 brake drums, another rear brake cylinder since the driver side one is loose, one of the bolts holding it in just fell out when I touched it and will not thread back in to it. :notsure:

Bleeding the system took about 20 minutes when we finished up, and all the dash lights went off it stopped beeping like crazy and I have brakes again!

Lesson learned, KM on the truck dont matter. It is what you do it with more than anything that dictates maintenance.
