Has anyone bought one of these from Ebay? if so, what is the quality?

Yeah, I think I've seen a few around here. They had a good experience with it, just can't remember who or where I saw it. Maybe the what have you done to your 3rd gen thread but it's been a while...

I saw that too but iffy on it because I’m not sure if it will fit well. Also I hate removing skid plates when doing my oil change and my 2.7 doesn’t require removing any skid plates to do.

The price isn't too far from an OEM one. I would personally buy original. But that's my two cents. I'm sure this one will work just fine.

I am planning on putting 3M undercoating on it, so the TRD stamp and shinny don't matter to me. I know the OEMs look nicer

I'm curious about how thick it is? I went over to eBay and couldn't find the thickness stated in the entire ad. The Toyota OEM plate is 1/4" thick and resists impacts well. Thinner plates may not perform as well.

The welds are also better/cleaner on OEM. Again, just a nit pick.

    I agree!
The oem skid plate is only about $100 bucks more.

For that price, you might check out the RCI skid. 3/16 thick steel and has the removable cover for accessing the oil filter. 20210105_152035.jpg

    Thickness was a concern too.

Ordered a similar one off of Amazon and I think it's pretty great. Seems to be of a similar quality to the OEM ones I've seen. 0.25" thick aluminum. Painted mine black and pleased with how it came out. As a bonus it didn't have the (IMO) tacky TRD logo on it. Don't plan on bashing her on any rocks so the aluminum was good enough for me, and the weight savings help with all the extra from the winch and bumper up front. I did have to swap around the front and middle hardware as they were in the wrong locations. Here's a pic of it as I was scuffing up the finish before priming.20201217_161531.jpg

Ok gotcha. For appearance and on road use, they look great! FWIW, would not do any 4 wheeling with those.

I can’t vouch for the quality of this one, but my TRD skid plate (1/4” aluminum) has supported my entire front end on a rock as well as other hits without failing

I guess if I buy from Amazon and it does not fit right or quality is off then I can return it.

It’s about same weight as OEM one. Only problem I see is the material quality.

Hard top camper...many more to add+
Aftermarket skid plates always buy from reputable companies ..where the screw holes will fit and match..
Best to read the negative reviews...I always do..
And if you but the TRD genuine one...about a $100.00 more...will get more Quality and admiration!

Labels ...having name brands ...many people find it important...like Nike, Fox shocks,bilstein,RCI,etc..

Better to spend a bit more for insurance(name brand ones) You only want to buy this part once...and you will want it to last...for a very long time..

sure some AFTERMARKETS can be just as good too..
    Aloha
