Uh what can I say, more snow wheeling. Addiction maximum.

Put the sand dune flag on today. Snow machines on access roads be crazzzzy.

Could not just sit around today and do nothing, so I gave myself something to do. Remove another tree!

    :sawzall:

Had lots of time so I played around a bit, used my fancy new Xlock recovery tool. I want to be comfortable with it when I need to use it. So playing around with it is a requirement.

X lock is interesting. So it essentially allows you to take up the slack on the line if you have extra. It also allows you to have the proper amount of line out on the winch so you can maximize the pull? Without it in your situation, you would have had been pulling mainly on your extension with tons of wraps on the winch?

In the configuration I used it in single line pull (SLP) self recovery, yes I shortened my extension. You have it exactly right, this thing lets you get to the 1st roll on your winch allowing maximum pull.

    Naw, Its freaking awesome@!#@#@$@!!@

But its a more advanced recovery tool, not something everyone needs or should have.

I like feeling like I am advanced for no reason. The stuff I do does not require it :cookiemonster:

Haha I feel like it is easy to get lost with a lot of cool gadgets. I’m second guessing everything nowadays because of weight and the inevitable one ton swap lol

Yep I am on board with the weight issue@!

Retention pulley and xlock both made from 6160 aluminum

Trying to keep it as simple as possible, its hard because you want to be able to recover in any situation. :cookiemonster: This is why I am practicing. So I know if I am missing or have to much.

When you practice solo, you really get to know your equipment. It is all on you.

With only 40 ft on my winch spool, I am forced to use extensions. I designed it this way to get to the 1st winch wrap easier. The xlock is a requirement in my eyes. I will almost always be using an extension or 3, and need to make it a different length than the 2 x 50ft or 1 x 100ft extensions I have.

Yup. Same boat I am in. Think I left 60ft on my winch and require using my extension too. Have to mess with it like you do. I am wanting to fork out for the pulley you got as it is significantly lighter then my snatch block. But, im being cheap....

I remember what you told me the 1st time we met and I was just rambling about all the things I wanted.

Just give it some time, cant happen all at once :cookiemonster:

But if you used that snatch block with wire cable, replace it. You should not be using anything used on wire cable on your synthetic line. The cable causes abrasions on the surface and will ruin your new synthetic line.:bananadead:

I’m glad you mentioned that old saying lol. Trying to remind myself of that as I venture into some new territory!

Yep already got a new snatch block for the synthetic. I debated going with the one you had but went with a standard style one. The old one is gone!

I was all 'Meh I am only at 60K KM I dont need to do the rear breaks yet' :anonymous:

    :cookiemonster:

    :pout:

Should have done them long long ago.

It is what you do with the truck, not so much how many KM you have on it.

Pads had like -10% left on them, with that the rear brake cylinder on the passenger side I think fully extended and puked all the love juice out :puke:

This also led to the self adjuster being on just 2 threads, and it would not back off no matter how hard we tried, for over and hour.

Got a total of 1 brake done last night with the horror show I have allowed happen. At least the dash lights are all off, and its not beeping like it is going to blow up anymore.

    :poking:

Going to do the front's tonight to hopefully have an easier successful job complete to make me feel like less of a tool. :notsure:

I have an automatic, who uses the parking brake in the auto?

Yea dirt, water, mud, snow. My truck lives in it. :anonymous:

Just got back to work after lunch, with the rest of the brake stuff.

2 new rear drums, new front pads. Rear brake cylinder for the driver side as well.
