    SOLVED*** BAD WHEEL BEARING
    (not brakes)

So when driving and everything is warmed up I have a clunking noise from my front passenger wheel area. The clunking goes away as soon as I press the brake pedal. Ive replaced the rotor, pads, shims and springs and thought I had it solved.
While driving home I notice the clunking has returned.
Anything else I should look at?

    Search “brake pad slap”
It could be that. Mine does it the first time I touch the brake pedal after changing directions.

A second set of pin retaining clips solved that problem for me.

OP should also look for ball joint and tie rod end play.

I've checked for play in the joints and tie rods. They feel tight.
The noise is only present when I've driven about 10 miles. It doesn't clunk in reverse and it goes away as soon as I press the brake pedal

Did you try unbolting the caliper assembly and retightening everything? It doesn’t sound like the sound happens with every rotation?

I recently put a 2nd set of clips on my brake calipers because it would click/clunk on reverse in the mornings.

Still get it, but not as frequently.

Doesn't sound like brake slap. Did the problem start after you changed a part or drove through a swamp or something? Sounds like something is rubbing or loose.

I would remove and reinstall the pads and rotors and make sure everything is greased and moving properly.

Also, heck of a nice video you took there. How did you manage that?

I've removed and installed everything like 5 times now, made sure everything is tight. Swapped out pads and springs for new ones and bought a new rotor.

    I'm lost.

I've had the knock that comes from shifting into forward/reverse while applying brakes. If you watch the video you will see this is not the case

    Hahahahahaha. I like your style

Did you raise the truck and shake down the tire for any wheel bearing play?

Also, sometimes the bearings go bad and there isn't any play in the wheel.

i did and it all seemed tight.
If that were the case would the knock go away in reverse and as soon as I apply any brake pressure.
It also doesn't knock until I've driven 10 miles or so

Have you considered the clicking isn't actually coming from the brakes/wheel area? Given that you've redone it 5 times I'm guessing it's not in that area but just sounds like it is!

What about everything more in the middle? Given that it's a consistent clicking, have you look at everything else on the truck that is spinning/rotating? Accelerating/Braking can shift weight ever so slightly back and forth and if something else (a bracket?) is loose, it can make whatever is hitting stop hitting...

I've considered it, just thought since as soon as I touch the brake pedal it goes away it had to be brakes
