If they leaked first, then bound up, that would make sense.

 

leaked, but still packed with plenty of grease. they were not dry. i think the outers leaked, and the inners bound up.. but i can't really remember the phone call lol

How close are the 4Runner and FJ frames?

 

I ask because @DocME has some FJ knowledge.

 

About as close as either are to the taco frame.

Well, primarily my point of curiosity is are the front portions of the FJ and T4R closer to each other than the Taco and the T4R?

I know there are slight differences between the Taco and the T4R, due to using a T4R swaybar on my Taco.

If they are more similar, then there should be some references that @DocME would have to be able to compare to that fella's. Possibly rule out some faulty install.

@81Trekker Would you guys sell the lower mount kit without the skid by chance? and does the forward bar serve any other purpose other than helping indicating the tabs and mounting the skid to?

 

Yes we sell them without the skid all the time... $75 cheaper without

It is used for alignment when installing and adds strength as well but it’s not needed

We went with a 934 inner CV as our LT kit is designed to have more drop out than any stock CV could handle. The 934’s safely do 28 degrees of angle.

Question for you on the 3D scans you did, and installs on relatively new trucks: what tolerance do you think Toyota is holding on these frames? Both unit to unit and left/right?

As I try to straighten mine I'm wondering how close I need to hold.

 

The T4R and fj should be same. They are built off the 120/150 chassis depending on years.

 

Any plans for a stock length LCA to match stock length uppers for those not interested in going LT?

 

No we will not be doing them as we see no point to doing so.

 

I asked the same question. Harry replied back and stated "No" but the stock lowers can be reinforced and inner uni-ball pivots can be installed.

 

Anyone done that??

 

I have... the bushings are replaced with an aluminum insert that is pressed in and then the uniball can be installed, just like the upper arms we do.
