    Right, wifi is off, and
Right, not connected to wifi, no on the java, and selection of drivers from 3 available choices, two are OpenPort with a 32/64bit distinction. I'm running Win10 64bit on a new machine with two legacy USB-A ports and two USB-C ports. I've got a plethra of cables and adapters for pro camera gear and not one is working.

I've been reading under a google search using: "connection error (S302-05) tactrix" and it looks like it's a driver issue and i'm not finding anyone that has broken past the error. But most of these are not using tactrix, but they are using techstream and these posts in various Lexus/Toyota forums go back 5 years or so. I may see if my neighbor has an older windows laptop to try.

    Sorry for the trouble.

Hopefully, you get a solution for your laptop. Given the purchase and such, I'd reach out to Tactrix?

Yeah, that's the next step for sure. i'm wondering if it's an adapter issue, just statistically possible with production runs. i'm a pro photographer and tech hurdles are my life. I at least know I can do something that the dealer may or may not want to do, but that's necessary for optimum performance.

It is most likely a driver issue, but hardware is a possibility (not very likely). Somehow you have more than one driver installed and your computer is not using the right one. If you can figure out which two drivers are installed, you can manually delete them both. You can also try disabling driver signing and reinstalling. That shouldn't be the issue as I have never heard of anyone having to do that yet. It is windows though so anything is possible.

So firstly, thanks to everyone who jumps in to help with valid suggestions and steps. Based on the broad reading with the error code related to techstream using other connectors it had to be the driver. So did a full uninstall just like before to start fresh. I ran a search for tactrix drivers on the openport 2.0 and downloaded an older version from their site located here: https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=38& It looks to be an older version when compared to the driver link in the top of this thread, unless they are going backwards in version #'s

Still gave two choices within the VIM selection, one 32 and the other 64. Tried the 64 bit version first and got the same error, but holy mother of all that's holy the 32bit version worked for the update! However, I'm not sure Techstream is connecting fully unless this is a normal mode of operation to get in. I clicked offline mode and got into a few screens but ran out of time to dig in.

Ok good enough. I'm on vftuner's site doing an education read and are the numbers for a base package of tunes correct at $5700.00? I had looked at this stuff maybe a year or so ago and thought it was in the 700 range. Everything looks different...and more expensive!

The equivalent package is within a few dollars. Since you already have the Tactrix, it should cost about $590.

I did this update on my 2019 TRD Sport. Definitely noticed a difference. No more jerky feeling when I punch the gas pedal from a stop. Instructions on how to reset the ECU and AT were a little vague but they got me in the general vicinity. Really appreciate all that put this information and programs together.

Another big thank you to @tonered and the other contributors - successfully flashed 04B81 on the 2020. No issues at all with Techstream or the Tactrix. Ill likely be making a buy/sell/trade thread for the Tactrix, so if anyone wants to save a few $ look out for that.

I would keep it. You can save yourself a ton of money in the long run. Program TPMS sensors, new keys, etc.

I hear you. The second I sell it, I'll probably regret it, but the $180 or so it cost is a lot of dough for what could possibly be the least used tool in my garage.

You will regret it when further features come in VFT. Such as Active Cruise Control options.

Can always rebuy it if I need it. Losing $30 or so each resale, it would take a few uses to break even on it

can't get through the first step. got battery maintainer/charger 12v 1.5a hooked up and also tried with a jumper pack hooked up. once i turn to ON position voltage drops below 12v. as far as i can tell all loads are turned off, lights, stereo, etc that are switchable. anything else i should check. gonna let battery charge for a while.
