What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I did the same filter mod and same location as you, drive through the rain all the time with no issues. But later I installed an Outerwears prefilter on it after a year cause I like to wash my engine bay every so often. Best to have a scan gauge to check what the CEL is though.

 

Yea. I put everything back to the way it was, so I'll see what it does from there. I still think it has something to do with the Unifilter mod and not the electrical relays. I really do t see how that would affect anything.

 

I see you put the cover back on over the filter. I threw my cover away when I first installed the CAI ‍(Facepalm) So my filter is fully exposed.. that’s the reason why I put on the prefilter over it

 

My concern is moisture getting into the pump and it failing. The more I'm reading though, it might be the fog light mod after all. Everything appeared to operate perfectly, so I don't know what went haywire. I felt it for a second last night when I was driving but I thought maybe I was imagining things. Unfortunately we it's raining today s I can't really test out the moisture theory, but I'll try each mod again separately tomorrow or Sunday and see what happens.

 

Sorry to hear you're having a problem. I know I did the relay mod in the exact same way you did, and AFAIK, I was the first to use that relay/approach (per TW threads) and I've had no problems whatsoever.

Limp mode per the SAIS is definitely a thing folks experience. I'm stock on that front so I can't speak to it. Good luck.

 

Thanks bud. Hopefully it's nothing serious, and putting everything back to stock and letting it sit will reset things. I wish that I wouldn't have done both mods at the same time, because now I'm not sure which is the culprit. I'll keep you updated though.

 

Finally got the Quicklifts that my TWSS got me installed

 

Did you happen to pull the EFI fuse when doing the fog mod? You're gonna have to clear the codes yourself to get the lights out.

 

I didn't pull the fuse.

 

Put these in a few weeks ago. Cali Raised LED pods and brackets bought from another TW member. Wayyy brighter than the garbage LED bulbs I got from Amazon

Added SDHQ terminals today. Not sure why I waited so long because these aren’t very expensive and are extremely nice.

Just FYI, i removed the jumpers from the relays and put the SAIS pump back to stock. I let the truck sit for a couple hours and now it is running fine and the CEL/Trac Off lights went out. Whatever it was I did my truck wasn't happy about it. Will a code reader back read prior codes thrown so I can see what the problem was?

Did some upgrades to my base model starting with a leather steering wheel and adding bluetooth/audio controls. Got them wired up to my PAC controller and Pioneer head unit tonight. Also added cruise control a couple weeks back and swapping out the clock spring ended up getting that working which I was in the process of trouble shooting. It was prewired for the cruise control and the steering wheel controls so that made it pretty easy once I figured everything out.

Parts used:
- 06 Tacoma steering wheel & CC stalk
- 04-09 Prius clock spring
- 03-09 4Runner airbag

 

Live in Missouri, gets cold, have access cab. Today cleaned all 4 door gaskets, applied silicone to control the squeeky/crunch sound as truck flexes.

 

Installed OEM roof rack a few days ago. Plenty of silicone on the bolt threads, and injected a bit in the holes. Heavy rain for the past two days and haven’t had any signs of leakage. Which is great- my ‘06 ended up having the carpet cut out, and holes drilled in the floor because of a sh#t windshield replacement by SafeLite.

Getting all set for a 2020’s suspension retrofit.. sourced locally for $100! Really looking forward to the ride improvement on the ‘13.

Loving the new profile with OEM rack..
