Rather than snark I'll list some legit reasons for not securing the mat. It acts like a slide for me. If there are small items far forward on the bed and I don't feel like reaching for them, I do the lazy thing and tug on the mat. Also, because I frequently haul dirty shit I like to throw the mat on my driveway and hose it down. And then I like to sweep all the dirt that accumulates underneath the mat before tossing it back in. It speeds up clean-out after hauling brush by several minutes.

For me, the function of the mat includes it's ability to remove and replace. For that I'll run the risk of having it unsecured.

I'm having a hard time imagining some meth-head dragging a big-heavy bed mat into a pawn shop and the owner not telling them to 'Get the Eff out of my store' .. But you never know. LOL!!
You know what's really sad though is .. Mosreso now days ... You work/save/buy something nice and you immediately have to think 'OK .. How am I gonna keep some idiot from stealing this?' So sad....

Maybe I should check my local CL for stolen bedmat deals.

With so many Tacomas, I would not think twice about someone wanting to just take it out of my bed and toss it in their own. Or some drug user taking it just to make a few bucks. And the cops could care less about a $110 theft. It doesn't have a serial number or my name on it, so I would not be able to prove it is mine if they did bust the thief.

Yes it is sad, but farmers also had to keep locks on their smoke houses over a hundred years ago to keep their hams from being stolen.

Locally people are sitting in parking lots at parks and waiting for women to go walking and assume they have a purse in the car and smash the window and take the purse without even knowing how much cash they are carrying. Criminals are dumb and will steal anything to sell for quick cash.

I think I am going to just drill a hole in the mat in the center front and install a stainless steel bolt through the center drain hole with a nylock nut underneath. And a fender washer on top so they can't cut the mat as easily.

There is one near me on Craigslist for I think $80. Actually that is why I was asking in the first place. Before I bought the mat I saw people were selling them locally basically brand new. And if I got something like that to use, I would not be selling it new. I would buy it to use it. It's not like the kind of accessory you buy and then decide a month later you don't like it.

I was using a few of the snap together floor mats from Lowes and they worked ok, but did not fit the bed exactly. I have them in my kitchen and wash room. They are really nice. They are like the 3 foot x 3 foot grid.

I had one for all of 5 mins. Like someone in here said, its so grippy, sliding furniture or heavy objects in the bed becomes such a hassle. I ditched it.

Personally I’m thinking about doing a chalk outline of a person on mine, at least if it ends up on CL I’ll know it’s mine.
