Anyone recommend a cd slot mount for a Garmin gps. In my '13 Taco the slot looks like a perfect place to hang a gps but am trying to avoid the regret parade of ill fitting/cheap units. Preferably a mount that positions the gps up not down so to avoid blocking screen and controls.

I use a vent mount, just right of the steering wheel and it really works well. Been on there since dec 2014.
You may need to lean your head a tad right, but the location is not gaudy.

I have both the RAM A-pillar mount as well as the CD slot mount. My CD slot mount is an Apps2Car mount from Amazon, very sturdy and I use it every time I drive due to the magnetic holder. Its only $12.99 as well. Highly recommend.

I had a CD slot mount for my phone. It was great on the road, but rough off road situations made it fall out constantly. I ended up ditching it

I’ve used these for years and they’ve worked well. Only issue I’ve had that they rattle a bit, especially if they’re not holding a cell phone, with any vibration. By like I said all in all they’ve worked well.

Tried one, did not like it. Tried a cup mount did not like it. Now using an adapted Gopro suction mount, like it so far.

This is the updated version below, which I prefer to the earlier version in the above link:

For my Tacoma, I got the Vanmass windshield suction cup, which I’m very happy with. Below is the link for the suction cup version and a pic of it in my Tacoma:

I spy an empty switch blank.

Tried the cd slot mount. No go.. too sloppy. Years ago got a Bird Dawg tech deck.. solid anchor point for ball mounts, keeps stuff off the dash, out of the windshield, sun, no glare off the back window. Easier to read my gps, use it every day.

You CAN get a ticket if you have stuff blocking your view through the windshield. Officer discretion, but would be my luck.
Back in the 80's, I got a ticket for having a company step ladder in my non-com licensed pickup truck bed, and nothing else. Ohio State Patrol. :annoyed:

I've always liked the idea of using that wasted space but I've never found one that didn't need to be so tight that I thought that it would damage the plastic face or mechanism of the CD player.

I could never get mine tight enough to keep from falling over time. It also destroyed my CD dust cover. If your doing any 4x4 wheeling, I’d go another route in my opinion
