I envy living in an area with a substantial market of quality used stuff. The KSL classifieds are the jam.

I’m on my second set. Nothing really to write home about aside from the hubs, which are game changing. As far as my non-professional skills can tell the wheels are just another aluminum rim.

I will say they have stayed true very well with no need to retention any spokes. And the rims can take a hit without denting or deforming. Admittedly I’m probably not the hardest charger in the room. To echo an earlier conversation, I’m not sponsored...

I already have the hydra hubs on my full suspension they are titties!

I don't expect the hoops to be much different than the WTBs I have on my Sentinel so I'd say it's a pretty sweet wheelset for 500 bucks

It is nice. Its been hit or miss this year because of covid supply issues on new stuff, but if you cruise it and act fast, you can find some steals.

    I9 wheelset for $500
Gx groupset, bars+stem+grips, G2 brakeset, and dropper for $650

Basically saved myself from selling my stache just on finding takeoffs or sub-season old items :bananadance:

Yea buddy. I’d snag another set at that price whether I needed them or not.

Bars sideways setup is going to work perfect. Happy with how little space it takes.

Did a little proof of concept out of wood, now to weld up a similar little standoff and rivenut it to the bed.

Been doing some over winter maintenance. Fork is next, waiting for a new seal kit from RWC cycling. Cleaned and lubed the whole drive train already, installed a dropper post, and removed the tires, cleaned and re taped the rim beds. Waiting for a new bottom bracket for my gravel bike. When those two bikes are done I've got my Transition Patrol to overhaul. I have 2 weeks of time off from work, covid quarantine :(, a co-worker tested positive and I was working in close proximity to him.

Work bench is getting a little cluttered.

Back when I was Pro I was just glad to get free shit and have team mechanics to work on my bike. Most of my cash was straight from what
I earned in a race. I was fine with just being privateer racing local events and regional nationals. Could I have stayed a Factory rider when I
switched from BMX to mountain biking? Probably but I didn't want to live in Colorado or SoCal. Plus the faster you go the bigger the crashes.
One year I over trained so bad my legs locked up on a training ride. I came to the realize I wasn't riding for the love of it any more. I was racing
for the wrong reasons. So I quit competing and just rode to ride. One weekend I finished 2nd in Downhill and won the Dual Slalom event. Took
home like $600 bucks. Pretty stoked. :headbang:

That's awesome. I love to ride. If I were to ever be on the level of being sponsored and racing semi-pro...idk if I could do it because I wouldn't be riding becuase I loved it.

i think about semi-pro racing but have to face the reality that im probably too old to be competitively racing. nearing 30 (next year) its hard to make a career out of a sport unless its in the industry and not the star. youtube seems to be the easiest, self-sufficient way to get in, but chances of making it big are like what, 1 in 1000? even then, youtube doesn't treat small content creators that well so you would need to sell merch or get patreon supporters.

then it goes back to making bikes your job and not a hobby. but shit, if i could hang out and ride all day, watch bike videos, read pinkbike and vital, it would take quite awhile for me to get too bored.

that old saying "do what you love and youll never work a day in your life" doesnt seem to hold anymore. guess times are changing. best bet is to win the lotto or something idk

Yeah I have hit a similar ceiling this year - at 26 I can't keep up with the death-defying 19 year old rippers. Feeling a bit burnt out lately; sucks to train hard and still get smoked

29 is when I gave up on racing Mtn bikes. I’ve raced a few time on my BMX in my mid 30’s. I think I could still smoke young guys in dual slalom. But I have to remind myself my neck is already surgically repaired.
