GTS is always worth a try. I've had the privilege of trying a few other vintages of it as well as WLW before owning this 2020. For me Staggs hit harder on the darker end of the flavor spectrum compared to WLW. Both have finishes that last for days, but the wheaty viscosity of WLW makes it stand out in a side-by-side.

I'm really enjoying this 2020 so far. It drinks somewhere between the 2017 and 2018 bottles and the barrel age really stands out above both of those. Tons of vanilla tobacco and dark cherry caramel... it's really sublime. I did a side by side with it and ECBP B520 (a favorite of mine) as well as Blanton's SFTB 131ish proof, and the GTS was easily head and shoulders above both.

 

do you ever have a day when whiskey you know you like just doesn't taste good? Like an off day for your taste buds? I'm getting an unpleasant bitter taste on something I know I liked two days ago.

 

I can’t say these are my favorite, but this Christmas I participated in a bourbon exchange, and I received both of these bottles! The Bowman distillery is down the road from me, and this is the first of theirs I’ve had. I received the Four Roses today so I haven’t tried it yet.

I have read mixed reviews on the ECTB but I really enjoyed it. Only bad note I have is that I feel the marshmallow faded as is aged. One of those bottles I tried to not drink but couldn’t stop picking up. One more in the bunker but gonna wait until next batch comes out

Fresh crack Friday. Wish they had a barrel number on their bottles. This one is freaking amazing!!! Mix between eagle rare and Elmer t lee. Might set it to the side it’s that good!

 

I think OWA107 is very good, but regular Buffalo Trace is great at the price.

 

I still kick myself for not noticing one of the BT bottles I picked up was a store pick. After cracking it, I was shit this is amazing and then saw the sticker...went back a couple days later...all gone
