    Anyone know of any campgrounds open in Lake Tahoe? Preferably one that's easy for a beginner to get to. Don't want to get stuck in snow lol.

    i don't know any but check the "alltrails" app should be able to find something on there or check specific forest websites

    It says All Tahoe National Forest Campground are closed...not sure if this was updated today or something but this is a bummer.

    Closure of campgrounds is pretty typical during winter. You can disperse camp still and that link you posted confirms that.

    are we there yet?
    Check out national forest maps, BLM, anything other than state/national park camp grounds are fair game and public... land of many uses, disperse. Keep in mind that means nothing for the beginner. Pack it in, PACK IT OUT!

    I've seen several posts about Bowman Lake. In summer (not snow) is it a challenging trail to the lake or just a fire road from 20? What about from 89? (I didn't know you could get there from 89.) Thanks.

    Better get out your tape and check again. Nitto doesn't make a 42". Biggest you can get is a 40x13.5 Mud Grappler. And since it's Nitto that's really only a 39" tire.

    I only know about the 42 because I watched this vid yesterday. They are coming out with a 42" on a 20" wheel. Still way too big for a Tacoma, and too big for most Jeeps too. But, interesting.
