Yeah, it’s like 2020 is the psycho ex that’s now stalking me. I’m adding wheel locks this time around, though I realize it’s just a deterrent rather than a solution. Nervous now that my truck has been targeted.

 

We (TW peeps on this thread) are a really small sample of people in this state and I think your the 4th person in the last month or so that’s been hit. We had two car chases through our job sites now involving stolen vehicles. It’s a crazy world we live in now. There is no recourse for people’s actions anymore.

 

Not if we have to rely on the (broken) system....

 

A little more progress on the tailgate. Got the sheet metal and tire carrier on today need to do a little more welding on the sheet metal and then paint.

 

Not that I'm condoning vigilante justice, but I won't be calling for police backup until the other person is on death's doorstep. Gunshots are common to hear in my neighborhood. Any screams I can attribute to my goats being terrorized by the local coyote population.

 

as much as Ive resisted, I’m using wheel locks on the Tacoma wheels now, and gotta find a solution for my other cars.

 

I've got 8 lugs per wheel that are slightly rusted on...

 

Buy yourself a cheap buzz box stick welder. 50 amp.

Well, my drivers side window is stuck halfway down, sounds like the gears/track gave up. Anybody have an easy fix?

 

Near the door handle is a small cover to pry open with a flathead screw driver. Open that and remove the philips screw. I don't remember now if tacomas have the plastic cup to grab to pull the door closed from inside or not anymore, but if it has that, remove the screw in the bottom. Carefully pry the electric window/lock switch plate up and unplug the harness. Go to the bottom of the door liner and feel for a little notch big enough to get a finger in. Put your finger in and pull hard to start popping the plastic interior door liner off. Once you go around the perimeter (sides and bottom, but not the top) lift the liner up. It has hooks that hold on the metal of the door. You may have to rock it a bit to get it loose.
Once off, you can peel back the plastic that seals the interior from exterior. Grease the tracks that the window rides in. If you pull the motor off, you can also see about manually sliding the window up and down.

Of course not, I just cleaned the truck out before heading out this morning... I'm gonna stop at the nearest store and get a shower curtain or some other clear barrier while I do the project I came over for. I've got a new window on order at a window repair place when I get back

 

It can be the slides in the tracks, not the window itself. Over time, bits of dust and dirt get in there and can put extra friction in the tracks.

 

I'm at an auto glass shop right now, I'll find out shortly. Normally wouldn't be a big deal, it's just that it's raining and I'm far from home. Current situation is suboptimal

 

Just push it up and use Tec screws to hold in place.

those numbers can't be accurate...can they? thats around 4100 bucks a day everyday
