No need to bend anything. With a flex hose on the grease gun just rotate the shaft so you can come in from the right (passenger side). May take a couple tries to get the rotation and angle just right, but it can be done easily.

For those of you that want to lube up the splined yokes, remove the larger of the two clamps, pull the boot back, get a fine tip grease gun needle with a tube of Molybdenum and use a stainless worm gear clamp to keep the boot in place. I checked all my grease points the other day and did this, so far no issues and at least I know I have grease in the splines.

    Good write up, thanks.

Just finished this on my 2013 dcsb 4x4.

No problem accessing the lube points. But it was a royal pita to remove my Amazon grease gun fitting! Had to lock a pair of vice grips each time and tug forever before it came free. Guess I'll need to upgrade the fitting before I do this again.

For tight spots, or situations like that THIS makes a world of difference. Definitely helps with the hard to reach fittings for the front driveshaft.

I read mention of that earlier in the thread. Just thought I'd give it a go one time without to see how it went.

Sub'd, will definitely be doing this on my 2011 TRD OR when I get home. Hopefully it solves the clunking other posters had mentioned when braking/starting. I've experienced this ever since I got the truck used at 120k miles and have been trying to diagnose...

As with everyone else, searched and found this thread because of the infamous clunk when braking/accelerating. Thanks!

Might be a dumb question, but is this something I need to maintain on my 2WD Pre-Runner?

Does your vehicle have a driveshaft? If yes-does it have u-joints? If yes-do those u-joints have grease fittings? If yes to all, then yes to your question.

can you help me confirm? Doesn’t look like I have any place to sync up a grease gun. Pics are front to back.

As a note--that is only for OEM--no issues putting a u-joint with a grease fitting in your vehicle.

I don't see any grease fittings in your truck, but it sort of looks like your rear u joint is going to have issues soon. See second from the bottom pic. Is that paint or ground up rusty needle bearing oozing out?

and although you likely already know--this is what you would be looking for:

Thanks! Are you referring to this (what I’m pointing towards)? It’s paint.
