vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

I understand now, thanks. I have paid the upgrade so it doesn't affect me but I'm trying to understand everything. I'm a visual and tactile learner and find it difficult when I don't have something to look at or play with. I'm sure I'll understand when this new version is released.

We have never said you have to buy vF Tuner to update to 2.0.
We have never said that updates cost anything.
and we have never said vF Tuner is required at all for older customers.

 

What are you waiting on? The tune pack?

 

Please be sure to check your SPAM folder, especially if you use gmail. Gmail automatically flags our emails as spam, we are still trying to get around it.

 

Hey haven't heard back via zendesk. Do we need to buy credits to unlock 04B33 if we did the tsb update?

If you already have the reg key and master key, you shouldn’t be waiting on anything unless you requested a tune pack

If you don't have credits to unlock it, then yes you must purchase credits.

We are providing tune packs to people who update or their dealer updates them because they weren't given a choice, but we are not providing credits on top.

Like I said, if you don’t want to edit tunes, you don’t have to buy Vftuner. Updates are free!

Sorry Mat, if my posts were off base (edited them above). I've apparently been under this misunderstanding that all OVTune tunes from here forward are .vft, and VFTuner is required for those. My bad. I'll just engage 'watch' mode

 

@Shellshock i guess i am waiting for the tune pack, i requested, when i sent my ecu identification to zendesk (this morning). and again, i can see that even though we downloaded from the ov/vf site this morning from the link that says download to 1.2.7.8... i received 1.2.7.7 again. banging my head on the desk. i have 5 credits, i have never opened vf to tune anything because i was waiting for the 04b33 updates to my truck, then ov to have the base tune available, and the guy's having updated base tunes to flash. now that all that is in place, i am trying to get vf tuner running to flash to one of those options. Hi Ski. If you show 5 credits in your account, you can unlock 04B33 right now and poke around. Just navigate to the vftuner folder in the x86 program files folder. In that folder there will be vehicle models listed. Go to Tacoma and then 2019, and then select 04B33 and it will open. To flash member tunes, use the flash tool built into vf. It’s the little gear looking icon just under and to the right of the menu pull downs.

 

I believe we got 1.2.7.8 but I think that the version was not updated so “About ...” still shows 1.2.7.7 @OVTune ?

 

This is what I was trying to get at. I just seem to remember gearlock and a few others being optional which I thought was modifying a tune which meant the upgrade was needed but Mat has since clarified that. Some select options like that one will be available without the need to upgrade. I hope I finally understand.

This is a great post! It’s exactly what I’ve been trying to spread. I will save this post for the future when people on here tell someone they have to buy Vftuner for updates. Once again thank you so much for backing me up Mat.

ski, if you have gmail and view your emails using an app like Apple mail or outlook it’ll never show in spam or regular inbox with the link that’s attached. Gmail flags it for malicious content and the only way to view it is in web browser. Login to gmail using web browser and it’ll show up in response to the email to zendesk. It might be in junk mail and either way gmail won’t give you a notification that it’s even there as that’s how it did mine despite me never having an issue receiving email from ovtune.

 

ok, i have paid my credits to unlock 04b33, and have that open. am i just waiting for the tune pack, that has the base & 2.0 file from ov tune for vf now? how do i go about choosing a "made tune" from @uploadadventure, @Mooseditty17, @PapaRee etc? looking for something like the 2.0 beta premium fuel, stock tires, (265-65/17), stock gears. would like a decent tip in, not too lazy, not too aggressive, with no 3500 vtech yo snap, that will hold gears in cruise, so i dont have that "gear hunting" motor reving feeling. i run premium non ethanol fuel only. dont mind compensating someone for a good tune. thanks guys, i am a lot further along, than i was this am.
