Yah my truck is in the middle. At least this year it’s become more and more of an Offroad/expo rig. It gets in rocks but not it’s only role. I always warranted on the side of caution but would love to save some weight.

i wouldnt be surprised if someday this will be possible. example- 40 years ago toyotas peak power output is what ours now make at idle.

Have you ever heard the saying, "why reinvent the tire?" This saying totally applies in this situation.

But in the event that I am wrong one day in the either distant or not so distant future, you can come back here and tell me that you told me so. :p

They were supposed to be here already!

Finally got my S/C installed. Everything went pretty smooth and I'm glad the truck fired right up and ran perfectly (thanks JustDSM for the TRD ECU flash!). Got back after about a 100 mile test drive and gave everything a good check and noticed the S/C belt was riding off the crank pulley by 1 rib towards the front of the truck. Everything was fine after the initial start up and short 5 mile drive earlier. Anybody run into something like this?

Are you sure you lined up the belt properly prior to running it? It happens quite frequently and is easy to have off a rib.

Realign the belt as needed. If it happens again, then you have an issue with pulley alignment or tightness somewhere and will have to recheck to make sure all of the pulleys are tight.

I don’t see the same slip n slide with my K02’s here in OR (very wet but not quite as cold) but I like the feel and traction (also very quiet) of the KM3’s better.

Noticed that this lower pulley is about 1/8 inch further forward in relation to the crank pulley. The outside edges of this pulley and the crank pulley are even but you can tell by the actual ridges that the belt rides on. To get this in line, my only option would be to shave down the special spacer between the two pulleys. There's no washer behind the factory idler pulley.

I’d remove the pulley and play around the orientation to make it align.

Did you install a quick change? My quick change was off 1/8” so I had to shim the idlers. Either that or as @12TRDTacoma noted may have bee. Off.
Did you install anything else after the base kit?

I tried flipping the ribbed pulley but it made it stick out even further forward. Magnusons instructions say to mount it with the snap ring towards the engine and that's how I had it.

I have a URD quick change hub and 2.8 pulley but I haven't installed it yet. This is a complete base kit from Magnuson without the tune. Only other thing I've changed was cam gears.

I wouldn’t mess with it and just put the URD kit on.........why do double the work. You will swap that 3.0 out anyway. And for me of all people to be saying this means a lot. The guys here that know me know I am more reserved than anyone and like to play it safe. It wasn’t long before I swapped pulleys

Exactly why I already had the 2.8 pulley setup sitting on my workbench. I knew it wouldn't be long before I wanted more lol. My plan was just to run the stock pulley until I got a good feel of it and then swap to see the difference. My boost gauge read a peak of 6.8 psi with the 3.0 so far. I'm also at sea level.

However, my alignment issue isn't up top, it's between the crank and smaller ribbed idler next to it. Been looking at it for a while and I think I'll just try shaving a bit off the spacer to bring it even with the crank pulley. Suppose I could always add a washer to bring it back out if I had to.

Ah I see. I apologize. I didn’t realize where the issue was. The 2.8 you’ll see is what the s/c should’ve come with out of the box. The 3.0 is what it is and you’ll like it but only because you haven’t felt anything else. You’ll realize right away you should’ve swapped the 3.0 sooner as soon as you feel the gains from a smaller pulley. If you cut and shave, just be careful......you can only cut once.
