The pressure transducer is integral to the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). The pressure transducer sends a signal to the ABS module that varies in relation to the amount of pressure applied to the brake pedal. The more pressure that is applied, the greater the signal sent to the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module. If a new pressure transducer is needed, then a new HCU must be installed.

@k.strong , when you first posted the error message, the first thing that popped into my mind is the clock spring behind the wheel. I had mine go out on me last year ( lost cruise control ) I know my vehicle uses the clock spring to help with the traction control ( VCS? I think ) and to know if your wheels are straight or not. Maybe that? do you have any other telltale signs of a bad clock spring? Traction light stays on? is your horn intermittent? cruise only works when you turn the wheel 15 degrees to the left.....;)

I just bought the china $50 cheapo clock spring from Amazon. I figured I could replace it 4x before it cost the same as a factory one ( just like the abs sensors! lol. )

I wish I did not destroy my OEM clock spring just for curiosity. I would ship it to you in a heartbeat so you could swap and see if that was the issue.

Can you reset the code and does it come straight back if you do?

I keep thinking about this error
here is what google told me

    DESCRIPTION

If the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) determines that the vehicle is being driven at a steep bank angle, the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) stores DTC C1440 while VSC operation is temporarily disabled.

This is not a malfunction if the system and sensor circuits are normal and normal VSC operation resumes.

    DTC No.

    Detection Item

    DTC Detection Condition

    Trouble Area

    C1440

Steering Angle Sensor Unusual Bank Angle Detected

Driving at a steep bank angle

Yaw rate and acceleration sensor (Airbag sensor assembly)

to me ( who's just guessing here ) this points to the clockspring ( the "yaw rate" ) or the VSC computer.
there is a TW thread about resetting it, and another one about shimming the module to "trick" the computer into thinking the truck is back at factory angles.

    VSC Reset

    Shimming the VSC module/sensor thingy

Ill have to try the VSC reset. Seems easy enough to do.

does this mean you snapped your abs sensor off inside the wheel hub?

if so, this is exactly what happened to me, mine was corroded in place. whatever water that got in my hub rusted the surroundings of the sensor and made it ( to me ) impossible to remove. I broke each one clean off flush with the hub. What worked for me was to find an appropriate sized punch and I think you'll at least have to pull the axle out to get at the sensor.

on a side note, I installed those RockAuto $40 sensors yesterday. no warning lights from my end, and everything seems to be working good.

Not my picture, I stole it from this thread.

But you can see it looks like its accessible once you remove the axle from the knuckle. ( picture looks to be like the bearing was removed, but axle left in place.

sorry if you already knew this, but I figured more info the better

Yeah snapped it clean off and i was even careful too. I put a screw in it and tried pulling it out and no luck so far. I dont have a garage so taking it all apart is a last resort for me..sitting in snowing working on the truck is not fun.

    Nice work!!
I noticed the same thing, one of mine clicked, and the other did not. I too had issues getting them to seat fully and still not 100%sure they are. Let’s hope the rubber o-ring and the grease I smeared all over it does the job :)

At least there is two of us who can report on the reliability of these in the future

Awesome to meet @Fahrenheit today and get to hear all the stories of you other guys hijinks back in the day, plus my truck looks brand new with its new tonneau

Added bonus, I got to visit a privately owned Toyota graveyard down by Martock, chatted with the cool dude who owns it and picked up the footrest my truck has been missing since I got it. Score!

I agree 100%, I'm working in it! I'm not really a fan of winter wheeling, too risky, but soon I'll be up ;) And we may have to set up a Valley run, we did an awesome run New Years day just south of Berwick

It was the guy selling the red single cab (cab only) on kijiji. He's got a bunch of old Landcruisers and a couple of tacos (among other things). I was late to meet Garth and had the boys with me so I didn't ask him what else he had around but I might see about getting some wiring looms off him if he's got any spare. Think that might solve my 4x4 light flashing.
