We do not currently have a cover. If folks start requesting them I'm sure we could work up one.

edit: Most automotive wiring is rated for above 250 degrees for many continuous hours. The ViAir and ARB are thermally protected right around 160-200 degrees to prevent their internal heat from damaging anything as well as limiting exterior heat. So as long as the installer has confirmed all wires are secured out of the way, the risk is extremely low.

But with any aftermarket product comes some type of inherent risk.

I love the Smittybilt unit, I've been using one in my Ram (mounted behind the grill) for over 2 years, works flawlessly and airs up my 37s pretty fast.

I think it would fit if you laid it down but it would be tight. I will verify fitment next week and let you know.

I've been running the 300p for about 7 years now and it's always worked with no problems. I'm considering moving up to the 440p just because it's faster. I like the idea of it being under the seat I'm just concerned about the heat because it gets pretty hot after I air up.

 

@EasyDoesIt said there's no issue with the heat as long as you plum and wire it safely.
I'm in the process of doing the GG back seat delete and sound deadening... so my seats are coming out anyway. I just ordered jackers and the mounting plate... I'm curious if a unit like the 440p will fit? I don't use it enough to justify the arb twin, but my 88p takes me almost an hour to go from 18psi -> 36psi on all 4 tires.

I also really like the power pole idea.
Can you remove and reinstall the compressor without removing the entire plate and/or seat?

 

We've confirmed fitment of the ViAir 400p and the 450c, both fit without issue (only require .75" of rear spacers). The 300P will fit no problem. If you are getting the compressor for the sole purpose of mounting it under your seat, I would get a "C" model as these are for hard mount onboard air installs.

The 440 model fits. I suggest getting a "C" model over a "P" (Portable) model. Regarding heat, see my above posts. These compressors have a thermal cutoff that is below 200 degrees and since they are installed inside a conditioned space, they should rarely if ever get to that high temp.

These are meant to be mounted permanently. They can be removed but you would need to remove the seat, unbolt the compressor, cut/remove the air lines, and disconnect the power harness. Basically the reverse of the install.

That helps! The C is just a little far out of my price range.
What size switch do i need to mount flush as in the picture?

I plan to run under the hood from the secondary battery to a spare relay then though the firewall passenger side. Any other recommendations?

Looks like the Smitybilt 2781 will be about 4.5" tall (after rotating the mounting brackets). I can't recommend running it as the clearance would be slim to none.

Convince a buddy to buy it off you and pick up a ViAir

I got my 300p mounted up and ready to go in the truck. I've been in touch with @EasyDoesIt because there were no matching mounting holes for the 300p. I sent him the dimensions for updating the mount and simply just drilled my own holes. Looks great!

 

Absolutely, a great place for inverters, amps, HAM radio, lock box, etc etc.

A Ram mount ball will fit on our Front MMP, Rear MMP or to the side of the compressor mount. The slotted patter is not only for air movement but also a place to mount air down tools or a flashlight.

Man this looks great. After seeing this, if you plan on going the permanent wiring route, you could mount a switch in line so you don't have to play with the one on the 300P. Great Job!

Edit: is that a switch already on the side?

 

@EasyDoesIt - it looks like the air nozzle you have in your kit is female. As the Viair hose that comes with the unit is female on both ends, any chance to get the nozzle in male?

 

I have a switch ready to go in, by my relay box is only 16 guage, so I just ordered a 40 amp dedicated for the compressor.
I've run lights without a relay only to melt the switch.
For now, in direct to the fuse box until I get the relay in
