Would you buy battery pack through mail order or in store only?

Packages get toss around and potentially can get damage.

 

I've done both. Never had an issue. Tools get tossed around on the jobsite.

 

Yea, if you are looking, I’d get the 2 pack for 129 of the 3.0 HO

 

Home Depot was wiped out M18 battery pack. The only one was left was the 2 pack of CP 3.0 and the 8.0. Must of been the holiday sale.

Look like now I have to order through Home Depot.

 

I beat on my batteries a lot more that the delivery guy will. Don’t worry about it, they are durable

 

I do ship to store often.

 

I just don't want to be charging and having a Lithium battery fire with toxic gas. If something wrong with the battery pack.

I seen YouTube video of Lithium battery explosion. Doesn't look fun.

 

Your concerns are unfounded. Think about the thousands of batteries that are shipped daily. No need to worry.

 

I choose ship to store option before with other merchandise before. It usually goes to the store by UPS.

 

I had alkaline battery exploded on me while sitting in the draw. That was a nasty experience.

I had 2 lithium’s go off in my pocket. Don’t recommend trying it. Got a 1st class ticket to the burn center in Atlanta. 2nd, 3rd degree burns and chemical burns. Went to surgery and now me and Leroy Jenkins (skin graft) go through life together.

 

Doesn't sound like fun.

I wish it was an impact and ratchet fuel combo. I have a few other drills that get the little jobs I have done

 

Explode or simply leak? Sitting in a drawer not connected to anything it’s just a chemical energy storage device. You’d need a huge instantaneous power draw to convert that energy to sufficient heat to cause an explosion.

Not impossible if it shorted out but generally you need something making a solid connection to both terminals.

 

I am surprised by the alkaline part

I have an absolute healthy respect for Li Polymer (all flavors) - just plain scary energy density - I had a "non changeable" Li battery go off while swapping it in my daughter's phone. I threw that spawn of the devil on the concrete ASAP and cleared space. And that was a small flat pack battery. I deal with 10 pound or so 36-72V Li batteries for bikes. I have extinguishers for the other things that might burn but I know if FULLY initiated not a lot of stopping going on - BUT to be clear would not give up on it unless humans (self too) in danger.
