So the other night, my unlock, lock, and passenger side window switch on the drivers door stopped working. Then before I took it to the dealership it started working again.

The dealership looked at it. Told me that chances are the module needed reprogrammed and reprogrammed itself. They can't replicate the issue and aren't going to do anything about it.

I even showed them a video of it not working. That didn't matter to them.

Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this before?

If it works fine I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s documented so if it happens again. Dealers now do not accept customer made videos of issues as much. I work for Kia and when we have to submit a video of an issue to tech line we have to in a single shot show the vin plate. Maybe cause to many fake videos. I have seen even in Kia the window switch gets Unprogrammed.

Great. Thank you for the reply.

I knew going there they weren’t going to do anything about it because they wouldn’t be able to verify the issue.

It just so happened I was having multiple issues all at once. A rear locker light intermittently coming on, the unlock/lock/window switches intermittently not working, and my infotainment no longer connecting with any devices.

    Hopefully all just a fluke.

All this happened at the same time?

Well I should say within hours of each other. On Monday evening, my window/lock switches went out. On my first trip the next morning, I had the issue with the locker light (Tuesday). Then on my way to the dealership the following morning (Wednesday), the infotainment issue started.

They are replacing the usb for the infotainment, they started they have a tsb for that. I have heard it won't fix the issue and the entire unit will need replaced but we will see.

The locker light only happened on that one trip. The window/lock switches started working again on their own the night before taking it in (Tuesday night).

So I don't know what to make of it. I feel there could be a loose connection or ground somewhere.

    Update:

So my truck unlock/lock switch on the drivers side stopped working again yesterday. I brought it to the dealership again today. They did some testing and think it may actually be the body control module.

I’ll have to bring it back when they get the part and get a loaner car. I’ll keep this thread updated in the event this ever happens to someone else. The tech here said he’s never even seen this before and probably extremely rare. Which is reassuring but a bummer it’s happening on a brand new truck.

Get the truck home. The remote no longer works, nor the unlock/lock function on the exterior handles. Ugh

Just let Toyota fix it. It's time consuming, but it'll get fixed.

I don't really have any other choice at this point.

My point is if you start messing with something it may give Toyota a reason to deny the 3yr/36k btb warranty to fix it.

Oh I'm definitely not going to mess with anything. Its getting to the point though, I worried I got a lemon. I've had it back to the dealership 6 times in the short time I've owned the truck.

It could be a bad ground somewhere. Also, you could ask for an extended warranty for your troubles.

I was thinking it could be a ground somewhere. I also already have the 10 yr/100k platinum warranty. Maybe I could talk toyota into extending the milage or something

    Update:

Toyota is putting a second BCM in my truck. We shall see how that goes. Seems very odd multiple BCMs would have issues.

    Update from Toyota:

They still have my vehicle. They are awaiting another bcm from the manufacturer. No timeframe as of yet. This will be the 3rd bcm to go into the truck.
