Absolutely not. I only posted this way so as not to mislead anybody that I could do what Justin can do. I have the knowledge, skills and abilities to do limited things. A lot of which is routine stuff for Justin that may be keeping him from developing other stuff, experimenting with OVTune software or just chilling out. Either way, I can help with Offroad racing exhaust tuning. He taught me well. However, I am NOT a tuner.

It was just kinda funny timing, I had just asked @JustDSM a couple of these things over the last week.

Just curious is there was an ETA for the 4.0? I'm supercharged and just installed long tubes and a full exhaust. One of the next things I'm looking at is getting a tuner.

You should reach out to HPTuners. They're only going to do it if the money is there, the more people that bug them about getting something added the better. Otherwise dealing with them is basically yelling down a dark tunnel, the only reliable response you can expect is your echo..

Not sure what you are inquiring about but OV is not venturing into the 4.0, that ship sailed three to four years ago. HP has been supporting the 4.0 for over two years now. You either buy an MPVI2 and credits and get tuned remotely or buy credits and use someone else’s tuner near you to upload.

Useful advice but HP has been supporting and anybody on the forum longer than a couple years knows that Mat has his hands full and is not taking on new ventures. HP supports the 4.0.

I'm confused. This is an HPT thread. OVT is generally discussed separately.

OVT was the first to offer tuning support for the 4.0, almost three years ago. It worked well, but Mat was a one-man show, so ability to customize and responsiveness were limited. HPT support arrived almost two years ago. It works well, offers the ability to customize greatly, and responsiveness is decent. Things may change if/when OVT gets "all ECUs done in vF Tuner." Until then, however, HPT is your best option. Contact @JustDSM for engine tuning needs and @nd4spdbh if you have an auto trans.

    +1 to ALL of this.

We have our own software that allows the end user to tune / flash / etc their own truck. 4.0L is going to be supported when we have all ECUs done. Unfortunately the 4.0L, when you count TRD files, it's nearly 100 files. But it's almost done.

This software actually supports more toyotas and lexus right now than HP does.
We just are not offering custom individualized tuning. Simply can't, too many people.

To keep this from being confusing, because I don't come in this thread unless I'm mentioned, we are offering software that works just like HP Tuners does. You make your own tune.
When it will be ready exactly, I don't know. It's unlikely to be popular on the 4.0L vs HP Tuners anyway. We are still a tiny shop vs HP Tuners which is multi million dollar ECU tuning enterprise. That being said we are working on several "day 1" patches for the 4.0L so that when we do release support, we have something better than HP Tuners, with custom code they can't / don't offer. Otherwise it wouldn't make much difference.

hopefully that makes sense. we are not offering customized tuning services on the 4.0 or any toyota.

Very curious to see what comes of vF tune on your end! Competition is always good!

Of course its pro only... im thinking a windows 10 tablet has more bang for the buck though - edit/write tunes, log, and whatever else you want. i know ive been getting tired of carrying the laptop around myself

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a surface 3 for a couple hundred bucks. I guarantee it has more memory storage capability than the MPVI2 device, plus a screen for real time manipulation, read and write tuning. The pro option is getting there but still not enough to get me to bite. And yes, getting tired of stealing my son’s heavy ass laptop to take out in the garage especially with online schooling.
