you guys complaining about delivery drivers...can't top my local USPS. for whatever reason my neighborhood doesn't have a dedicated route/driver so what happens is which ever driver gets done with their regular route elsewhere in the city first and back to the PO has to then go back out and deliver stuff to my 'hood. most days I don't get mail until after 8pm because of this.

a couple years back there was a month long period where no one on the street was getting the correct mail. every night everyone would be out wandering up or down the block taking mail to the correct box. after a couple of weeks i got tired of it and started leaving notes with the mail in my box...you missed! one block back! ....stuff like that. kept happening so I called the PO to complain.

then there was a period of time that everyone on the block would only get mail maybe once a week and outgoing mail wasn't being picked up. back to the no dedicated driver thing? yeah the guy who got stuck with our route added on to his day was having a tantrum and would only drive down the street if he had a bin full of mail. if it was only a single letter or two for the whole block he'd either skip our block entirely or leave it in the first box at the end and pull a u turn just so he could get back to the PO and end his shift faster. nearly missed rent one month because my check sat in the box for two days before i went over to the PO and dropped it off myself.

and then package deliveries courtesy of the USPS... ordered some prints of my photos one time and they came in a mailer tube. a three foot long mailer tube. USPS driver stuck it in the mailbox so that two feet was hanging out into the street. If someone had driven by and clipped it with their car they would have taken out 8 mailboxes! I've had packages left at the end of the driveway, just out in the open. or at the bottom of my stairs, laid on top of the mailboxes, basically anywhere but my porch. I started taking pictures everytime they were just being lazy and brought them over to the PO one day. Showed the post master, told him it was unacceptable that the people delivering to my 'hood were so careless.

its gotten slightly better the last couple of years but i still keep an eye out. if i'm expecting something important i watch the box like a hawk. outgoing mail is driven over and dropped in the curbside box at the PO

 

did the plumber not test the line when he did the work?

you gotta stay away from home improvement / contractor stuff in the future. just not your thing
