If you are looking for better visibility, I suggest starting with the Rear Seat Jackers, this will provide a more commanding view and clear sight over the hood.

Nice! Looking forward to your feedback.

Perfect. I usually suggest folks roll up a small bath towel and put it under there knees to see if that helps but the wood blocks is even better.

Received my rear seat jackers on Christmas Eve and just got them installed today.

The truck is currently immobilized thanks to a dead throttle body, so I can't take it on a test drive yet, but even just sitting in the seat I can tell a big difference already and I think I'm going to be quite happy with the added height in the rear. I have it set at the 0.75" added rear height for now and will go from there. For reference, I am 6ft tall with an inseam of 32" and I have long lanky arms and prefer to sit more upright (rather than slouched and/or leaning back) when driving. I found the stock Tacoma seat angles to be rather uncomfortable and will sometimes give me a bit of back pain on longer drives.

Really looking forward to driving it with these seat jackers in the rear. I did similar to a 2G Tacoma I had for a bit and it really made a big difference for me. (But there was so much more that I hated about that 2nd Gen.... lol! I had to come back to the 1st Gen.)

Here's a few pics of the rear seat jackers installed on my 2003 DC:

Nice, looks good man. Any chance you know Micah Fey from Hidden Instinct? He use to rock that sweet khaki bobbed SAS'd 1st Gen and lives off Scenic Drive. Now he has a bunch of Internationals.

Got it, shipped it, you should get your order in the next 3-4 days.

Thanks for the 10% refund!

Ya, I've met Micah a couple times. How d'you know him? I live real close to him. When I moved here a few years back from SLC area, I actually just randomly drove past his house one night and saw him working on the SAS on that Tacoma and I screeched my truck to a halt and went over and chatted with him for an hour or so. heh. He seems like a good dude. His truck was still for sale a week as of a week or so ago...at least I saw it listed still then... It looked like a good build. I thought about picking it up, but went another direction.

Edit: Heh! Just looked up Hidden Instinct. I didnt even know he did a channel on that, but we talked a good bit about his coyote huntin and such. I'll have to check out his channel!

got my front set today and got them installed.

for this price point i think there was a bit too much fiddling to install, almost stripped the aluminum trying to get the last mm i needed to expose the threads properly. ultimately had to resort to a hammer for a few light taps to get the seat bracket down on the block enough to thread the top Allen. the other side was less fidly, but it could be better
    20201230_152514.jpg

i think it would be very nice to incorporate the factory locating pins, might make a nicer install and would fill the holes i now have in the floor.
    20201230_152508.jpg

overall, these are well made and the finish is good, but they arent near as nice as the 2nd/3rd gen jackers, and those are only $10 more. so i feel these 1st gen jackers are a bit overpriced, plus we dont get the molle rack mount, i'd buy that for mine if it was available.

given the shortcomings compared to the other products from desert does it, i can still recommend these without reserve because they do what they are advertised to do.

What holes in the floor? Can you show them? I’m about to install mine in a day of two when it’s not raining

the holes are in a channel in the floor, not open to the elements, so its not a big deal, but the second and third gen seat jackers are a much nicer product for a teeny bump in price,, my opinion of course.

look at my second pic and you can see the seat locating pin, and just barely make out the hole it goes into.

I’d pop a small plastic push rivet in there to cover it.

When you did the rears, did you have to remove the seat entirely?

No, I did not remove the seats entirely. Though I did loosen the front bolts to allow for a bit of movement. Once the rear bolts were snugged in place, I tightened the fronts back down.

@EasyDoesIt just wanted to give an update. I've had the front brackets on my driver's seat for about a month now and it has brought the love of road trips back. This is how the tacos should have come from the factory. Thanks brother

Thank you for the review and feedback.

I apologies that you were not able to get the bolts installed. We chase all the threads after powder coating. Its possible we missed a block or two so I'm sorry if that is the case. You should never have to use a hammer. Did you loosen the rear bolts and align the block on the trans tunnel? These are critical steps in the instructions. The seat rails are pretty flexible and you should be able to stretch/push them around pretty easily.

    A few things to note:
    • We love the 1st Gen Tacomas and want to support the folks that love them too, which is why we made these Seat Jackers.
    • We have lowered the cost of the Front Seat Jackers to $79.99 ($20 cheaper than the 2nd/3rd Gen)
    • These are a low volume product which leads to a higher cost.
    • A lot of R&D went into designing these blocks, multiple sessions over several months.
    • To keep cost down, theses Seat Jackers are smaller (less material) than say the 2nd/3rd Gen Seat Jackers. This has the unfortunate result of not covering the centering pin. The centering pin is just that, a pin to get the seat centered when installing at the factory.
    • The 1st Gen MMP is possible if we get enough interest. If we do, it will be a stand alone product that would mount with brackets.

With all that being said, please send me your order number and I will get you a 10% refund for the review/feedback.

    Thanks again,
    Steve

hey Steve, i understand low volume and cost to produce, ect, if i thought they cost too much i wouldnt have bought them in the first place,,, i just see how much better the 2nd and 3rd gen jackers fit and look when installed and wish we had the same,, maybe i should buy a newer tacoma:D

as far as the bolts, your threads were chased and the product itself is very nicely made and finished. the problem i had was the threaded hole seemed to be just a millimeter off, i had the rear bolts loose and the seat frame sitting on the jacker, completely, and the hole was not lined up enough for the bolt to thread in straight and trying to cross thread, so i had to tap a bit while turning the bolt to get it started. i suppose i could have accomplished the same by taking the rear bolts out completly and tilting the whole seat to get things to line up, but, again, no biggie, just part of the review so someone else can see that if they experience the same.

This would be awesome and a game changer! We can mount fire extinguishers, tools, flashlights, first aid pouches, holsters, etc etc.

Awesome to hear! My girlfriend just placed an order on the seat jackers for my truck. Will the upcoming MMP work with these or will they only work with a newer version of the jackers. Can’t wait to get these thing installed!
